Yeah... I don't think Winky is strong enough to beat Tito the way Hopkins did, or fast enough to beat him the way DLH. Of course am not convinced he has to be either. Great point by whoever said Mayorga should not be the barometer. Another point I'm thinking here however is, that I don't think Winky can dominate Tito well enough to get a decision, even though he may perhaps deserve a close nod.

It is a fact that Shane was going to be Tito's comeback fight. If you ignore that then you are ignoring the facts. Tito vs Shane was basically a done deal, but Wright put a monkey wrench in those plans, just Like Shane and Mayorga was a basically a done deal until Spinks screwed that up. You can have opinions, but when you ignore facts then that shows how much you really follow the game.

Fighters usually have a list of opponents. Mayorga may have been on the list, but beleive me he wasn't the first choice.

Everyone keeps talking about how Winky was ducked. Here are the facts.

          1. Winky lost to Harry Simon, a fight that would have helped
          Advance his carreer.

          2. Although I think he beat Vargas in a close fight, he allowed Vargas to win the championship rounds therefore spoiling another great opportunity to advance his career

          3. He turned down $1 mil, to fight Shane before Shane lost to Forrest, which makes no sense to me since he was only earning about 3 to 4 hundred thousand a fight back then. This fight would have helped Winky get back on the world stage.

I think Winky had opportunities that many fighters don't get. He finally dicided to fight Shane for the Million that he turned down 3 years ago.

I like winky, and I'm glad that he is getting recognition but all this Ducked talk is annoying.

Now that WInky has some clout, he's trying to capitalize on it just like everyone else, I don't see him looking to fight guys who will not provide him with substantial earnings, he's calling out Tito, DLH, and Hops, because of the money. You don't see him looking for Ouma or any of young jr middles.

Yes, he did fight Mayorga, butr he beat his ass pretty hard core, the way Tito used to beat peoples asses. Maybe Tito wasnt thoroughly tested in the fight, and I would agree with that, but I dont think you can jusmp to the conclusion that Tito isnt the guy he used to be after that fight especially since it was an outstanding performance. If anything I would be impressed with Tito after that fight, not dissapointed.
hey man i can tell its pointless trying to debate with this guy winkyfan cause he debates with assumption and heart. the facts are obviously not an option for him. i agree titos performance was very nice. even if it was mayorga. tito will do the talking with the gloves. don't get me wrong i like both tito and winky but winky doesn't have what it takes to beat tito imo. there were options for titos return and mayorga was not a setup from day one. if winky was so interested in fighting tito he would have faught him before mosley 2. i know i know. there were contracts and such. but winkyfan thinks that was a non issue. there were talks for a while about tito-dlh 2. but that really wouldn't make any sense. not a good fight to back from a long layoff.

Remember how often Winky went down against Vasquez.
I'm not too sure I remember since when you had to be a big puncher or a hard-hitter to floor Tito Trinidad, besides Tito likes coming forward even though the odds are against him, so I can't say I ever seen him discourage (he was even coming forward in round 12 of the Hopkins fight.)..

some valid points. But trinidad's boxing skills are as good as vargas' he was actually outboxing hime in most of the rounds and there is no way vargas'power is as good as tito's. Winky has good skills but joppy, mayorga, vargas and reid all were crushed by tito's power, they were all durable before tito fought them.

my point is Jack that Winky doesn't hit hard enough IMO to even hurt Tito (even taking into account his shaky chin at the start of fights), also he (tito) should be more inclined to be discouraged if he feels enough power nowadays since Hopkins did a total number on him, even though his will is immense he surely has some self preservation in him and must realise he can't keep coming forward one dimensionally anymore, cos fighters will try to do a Hopkins on him.

You are right i am basing that particular fact on assumption and what i heard from a third party source. I am huge Winky fan and i have been for the last 6 years. I have seen most of his career and love watching his fights. Maybe it's because i can relate to him because my boxing style is similar to his. Please don't feel you can't debate with me, i am open minded enough to admit i'm wrong when several people tell me a fact i didn't know.

                      Peace............
