  • Impressed with Doheny at his age. Ball better get matched carefully going forward; he won't beat anyone better than Doheny.

They're going to give Ball a hometown title defense and then feed him to Naoya Inoue this December.

Inoue announced his four fight plan a couple weeks ago:
May in Vegas vs 122 #5 Ramon Cardenas
September in Tokyo vs 122 #1 Murodjon Akhmadaliev
December in Riyadh vs 126 #2 Nick Ball
Spring 2026 in Tokyo vs 118 #1 Junto Nakatani (at 122)

They were talking about it on this broadcast all night long too.

          • The "Ball won't beat Inoue" comments are kind of asinine, nobody has ever thought Ball is on Inoues level. Inoue is a generational great, one of the top 5 of this era.

Ball is what he is, an entertaining pressure fighter. He lacked sharpness tonight but got it done with physicality.

People are bringing it up because Inoue is supposed to fight him in December if he beats Cardenas and Akhmadaliev. It's not something that is coming from nowhere, Inoue called his name out at a press conference in Japan and the commentators on today's fight mentioned it several times.

It's a routine win for Inoue I don't think anyone, at any point would expect anything else.

I think Inoue is targeting him as the smallest 126 belt holder because he plans to go back to 122 for one fight to face Nakatani before moving back to 126 full time.

You can add up Iglesias and Gonzalez too.

The guy can't punch, he probably didn't feel a thing.
