We know Joyce is very much shopworn and should lose this fight. The biggest unknown variable is Hrgovic's "desire".

I've never really been impressed with Hrgovic, his reputation must have been earned in the amateurs and WSoB because I haven't seen him earn it in the professional ranks. He got away with poor defense and robotic offense against inferior competition. When he stepped up in class and struggled, some argued it was his desire or focus. Maybe.

I expect the Croatian to win. His heavy handed, stiff combinations should find their home against Joyce as Joe shuffles forward like zombie. I see a merciful stoppage or sustained beating UD, however if Joe somehow managed to win, I guess we will say Hrgovic didn't have the desire.

I see the name 'Hrgovic' in the headline and reflexively think 'slow, ponderous, overrated'. Like a Slavic punching bag. That's the result of being judged by his latest performance. It's only fair. I'd like to see him rally and turn that sinking ship around with something impressive. Will he? Can he? This is why I love the fights.

Maybe I am in a minority, but I just don't see anything special about Filip.

Filip is a much tougher opponent than Whyte. He was beating Dubois before the doctor stopped it for the cut. Joyce will always be dangerous, but I see Hrgovic working him to a late round retirement from the fight and the sport.

I agree it is a better fight than Whyte. I also agree Hrgovic should win and retire Joyce.

Still, he batters Joyce at this stage of their careers.
