    Oooooh great topic.

I think about this all the time.

I was watching Tyson-Douglas with my father & cried when Tyson lost

I was watching De La Hoya/Trinidad with my brother & my uncle & we were all rooting for Tito & by the end of that fight, we were quiet as hell because he got his ass kicked throughly.

I was by myself watching Floyd/De La Hoya & initially thought Oscar won because he was busier, but then I watched again & saw that he was punching a lot of air sometimes.

I was chilling at my moms' house watching Castillo/Corrales & actually pxssed her off because I was yelling by the end of the fight & she thought something was wrong with me

1.Pryor vs Arguello I believe the most competitive high level boxing shoot out I've ever witnessed. I was at a downtown Austin Bar with nothing but fight fans going crazy over what they never witnessed at that level of give and take along stupendous power alloyed with boxing nuance, style, and strategy changes.

      2. Big George vs Field where Field jumped out to the lead midrounds only to run out of gas as Big George kept walking him down. Field was holding on for dear life those last round and most of us thought George pulled it out. I was married with kids, so pulled a fast one telling my wife I was going over to my bro's place which is where I parked. His best buddy was down a couple of houses with the fight on where I joined in with the main instigators to buy the PPV.

I was found out in the middle of the fight, but of course my alibi was sound because I was with my bro and she didn't know I was one of the financiers.

      Cool memories.

That is easily one of the top trilogies for the 2020s.

If one carefully watches De La Hoya's more or less entire career, punching air in flurries and screaming chicks highlighting that nothingness are the foundations of his "greatness".

Still, I do agree with you on the Trinidad fight. I was rooting for Tito as well, but that night he received a gift decision. Granted, Oscar's bicycling away for the last four rounds didn't help him one iota.

I don’t know for sure at this point, but I’m thinking it would make the most sense and it is definitely what I’m hoping for

82: Infatuated with a girl. School.
              84-89: Miserable at dentistry school.

After that, playing live somewhere and went back to college and graduated again in Marketing, which I now hate cause it is just lies a poo.

I was in San Francisco going to Graduate school... I had some work to do and who the heck wanted to travel a bit to watch 5 seconds of Tyson's next opponent hitting the ground. Felt kind of lonely and figured at least the walk to the Rockin Robin Sports bar on the Upper Haight would be a nice walk... Get to the bar have a beer and here comes Douglas to the slaughter. First round passes, I take out my eye drops... did not want to blink and miss Tyson's big punch... second round...Humm??? NAH!! Kid was lucky... and on it goes, we are into the fight... I am there with others who no doubt thought the same way I did... we are looking at each other like Masons that know the secret hand shake! Or... this being Bagdad by the Bay... like those taking a communal trip and have a unique understanding eluding the rest of humanity.

I will never forget that night... I am so glad I took that night off! I witnessed something akin to when the Boys in Blue won the Hockey Gold... I was there the night Douglas joined Braddock as the Cindarella Man!

On a slightly less climatic note:

I remember watching Lennox Lewis in new York City. I had a special cable box and all my coworkers from the Mariot would come and watch the fights... I made a ton of beer money on lewis lol. I of course put it right back in to slake the thirst of my hungry guests... We had this great apartment, small, on the Upper West Side, with a court yard. During the fights the Puerto Rican neighbors next store would BarBQ, my wife would help hold down the kitchen, which in true NY fashion was virtually in the living room! We still managed to fit in many people! It was like a party. Lewis was spectacular and would not lose for a while down the road.

But the best? My son had just been born and it was like he had an instant giant family during those evenings.

See?? When you really are into the boxing, you can use fights to remind you of where you were and who you were with
