I think Tank taking a knee signalling time out means he's prepared to be deducted a point.
It's a balance between losing due to something on his face that bothered him and winning by KO.
Unfortunately, the ref didn't count it as a KD, which Davis I would guess would have been okay with it.

Can't blame the ref. I wouldn't know how to react if I were him. Have never seen anything like it.
