  • Do u think Davis was overrated? Or was Roach underrated?

So, I have no problem eating crow when it is justified. I'm still thinking this out. Was Tank just unable to beat a solid, decent sized opponent, with some skills?

Or was Roach much better than people like myself thought?

    Thoughts?

I truly believe the whispers I heard before this fight : Tank wasn’t taking this fight seriously
He hadn’t trained for it like he usually does and then Joseph made a comment that he only had one sparring partner for preparation for this fight ( I think it was Joseph who mentioned this part if it wasn’t him sorry but someone did )
Take into account that Tank knows him damn well having beaten him a few times in the ammys , hence he knows his style of fighting having grown up with him
But I will state that this has no accountability for what Roach did tonight
He fought a great fight and deserved the W

Both. Tank has power but as we see time and time again you will not be able to knock everybody out.

I think it's difficult to find a fighter in their division who is head and shoulders above everyone.
If there is, those guys are clearly in the P4P top 3, searching for fights above their natural wgt class.

For everyone else, the top guys are all competitive.
The name of the game is being consistently great everytime. That is so difficult to do.
          Unfortunately, Tank isn't the man.
He's still obviously up there, just not the dominant guy everyone thought he was.
Prob makes most ppl now favor Shakur or Keyshawn over him.

Roach is underrated and very familiar with Davis' attack patterns.

For what it's worth, I had the Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz fight a draw and I don't rate Cruz that highly either. I knew someone would come along and expose Davis again, I just didn't think it would be Roach. I thought Roach looked like a solid fighter against Hector Garcia but I wasn't sure he'd be able to take Tank's shots at 135. But he obviously did.

Kind of both, to be fair Davis didn't have a fight for 10 months, had only one main sparring partner Joseph Macedo (6-0, 3 KOs) whose a Super Bantamweight and made weight the last minute (not that he was that overweight), just didn't seem have his head in the game and he along with the majority underestimated Roach. (I also underestimated Lamont quite a lot)

But nonetheless Gervonta Davis didn't suffer from sickness and had a full camp against a fighter coming up a weight class. Roach's qualities such as his reach and sharp counter punching just seem to be difficult to overcome for Davis. Also Roach working the body to take steam off Davis's punches and slow him down paid him dividends later on. Even when he did get caught, his chin was durable enough and he managed to minimize the punches that were landed.

Roach is of those cases where a fighter dedicated his time to sharpen his tools and make improvements by learning from his loss yet most of the public probably don't take notice until he displays his improvements against well known fighters. He is certainly more experienced and physically stronger compared to 6 years ago.

If there was a rematch, where both are better prepared, I think Davis would win in a competitive bout though I could be wrong as Roach might just have his number, specially after getting a 12 round experienc. But Tank's capabilities seem overestimated, he has been maneuvered to fight opponents with disadvantages fighters to secure wins and is already compared to legends like Duran by his fanbase just because of how well promoted he is.

It's both, Roach is a very good fighter and Tank just isn't taking the sport seriously and should have paid for it tonight.
