For someone named "slicksouthpaw" I am amazed you can think that way.
A serious question for those who believe Dirrell won

That's not always true. I normally hate when someone says that a slick boxer runs, but Dirrell truly ran. Just because you land 3 pity pats, doesn't mean you win the round against someone who is constantly throwing punches and trying to make the fight. He wasn't fighting a low level fighter like Curtis Stevens, he was fighting a world champion that way.
Rewatch the fight people. I think everyone is still excited, and not thinking about how to properly score a round ( no offense).Comment

I personally feel that not only did Dirrell land the cleaner blows but in most of the rounds he was busier.
Just because Froch was moving forward doesn't mean he was throwing more. He only really threw punches when they were in the clinches and most of those punches were illegal.
Froch only landed two clean blows from what i remember.Comment

How in any way, can you tell me that someone who fought extremely scared early in the fight, complaining to the referee every time Froch would get close, was barley throwing any punches, (and didn't start landing anything significant until after Froch was hurt) beat someone who was trying to press the fight and make it exciting? I give Direll credit for putting up a fight late and coming to Dirrell's home town, though IMO he lost.
This isn't a hate thread, and i think Andre will become a better fighter after this, but he was clearly out worked.Comment

By the same token you can expect to win a fight doing nothing but holding and running.
This is not amateur boxing and Froch landed plenty. Everytime Dirrell got hit or was about to be hit he held, it's as simple as that. If Dirrell had engaged and thrown more than two punches without holding he might have won.Comment

One is a scoring criteria and the other is not.
If i had the opportunity to be in with a shout of winning a!! decision what criteria would i rather have the judges scoring the fight for me on, landing clean effective punches, albeit sporadically, or landing jack ****! and coming foward which is not! a scoring criteria within the rules.Comment

The fight I watched Dirrell pretty much did what he wanted to do while Forch looked confused. Dirrell should have done more though, if Dirrell would have done more he would have won, it is hard to fight like that (even if it was basically perfect, since Froch sould do nothing about it) in the other guys building and win. So it is Dirrell's own fault that he lost that fight.
It is what it is, I am still impressed with what Dirrell did.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 10-17-2009, 10:38 PM.Comment

This is coming from someone who canceled his account to make a lot of boxing scene points on a different one. Take the night off, you're probably thinking to hard again.
I'm just not biased. Dirrell ran from Froch and was complaining every time the fight got on the inside ( begging for him to break the action). That's just not the way to fight a champion in his home town. After Dirrell staggered Froch, was when he started to be effective and man up.Comment

Dirrell clearly won this fight..
115-112 on two cards???????? GET OUT OF HERE. I saw it and I had him winning. I actually though that he should have pressed the fight a bit more because he landed at will and he actually stunned Froch in like the 9th or 10th ( I can't remember). But as his grandfather said, he HAD to knock him out because there would be NO way that he would get a win by decision in Froch's hometown. The horrible scoring that we get is my biggest problem with this sport.Comment
