  • Would Vergil Ortiz beat Madrimov if he wasn't ill with Bronchitis?

Very close fight with two 115-113 scorecards. Madrimov just needed one more round for it to be a draw.

Eddie Hearn revealed that Madrimov had bronchitis and he wanted him to pull out of the fight. But Madrimov, for whatever reason, decided to go ahead with it anyway. Perhaps he thought he was good enough to beat Vergil, even with bronchitis, which almost proved to be the case!

But how would Vergil do if Madrimov didn't have bronchitis? Could he still win that fight, or does Madrimov prove the superior fighter by far? Personally I think it'd still be a close fight but possibly Madrimov wins a 115-113 type of fight instead of Ortiz in a rematch.

Should there be an immediate rematch to settle it once and for all?

Madrimov has one heck of a gas tank if he can move like that while sick with bronchitis. Wouldn't be surprised if Eddie is just lying though.

He was ill from 2 weeks before the fight. It can last for months if it's chronic bronchitis. Madrimov himself said the doctor told him to pull out the fight 2 weeks ago.

I don't like to call someone a liar but if it was any bit detrimental I feel like I would have seen him coughing or weezing to some extent.

              Who cares?

When you step into the ring you're declaring yourself ready to fight. Leave your excuses on the outside and live with the results forever. Don't wanna hear a damn thing about your illness, your injuries, rough training camp, new trainer, short notice, travel issues, personal problems. If you can't fight, don't fight. If you can fight, shut up and fight. End of.
