  • Nash reviews last night's boxing

Fight 1 - Callum Smith vs Joshua Buatsi - 8.5/10

A great fight that had some swings, though Smith was the clear victor.

Fight 2 - Zhilei Zhang vs Agit Kabayel - 5/10

Zhang got old overnight so the result does not count on official Nash records. Kabayel did what he did. A bit of a non-event.

Fight 3 Virgil Ortiz vs Israel Madrimov 5/10

Ortiz won a very boring fight, though that was mostly down to Madromov, who Nash would happily never see again.

Fight 4 - Carlos Adames vs Hamzah Sheeraz 6.5/10

Adames dominated and won at least 9 rounds, but the classic "we need to keep the overrated bums 0 in place" rule prevailed, resulting in a "draw".

Fight 5 - Shakur Stevenson vs Josh Padley - N/A

    Nash made some noodles.

Fight 6 - Joseph Parker vs Martin Bakole 6/10

No training, no publicity, no work, no effort, nothing. Just turn up, stand in a ring for 5 minutes, take a dive, pretend he couldn't stand, and leave with a bag of cash and tons of excuses naturally in place for the loss. Martin Bakole lost the fight, but won the night. Enjoy your money Bakole.

Fight 7 - Artur Beterbiev vs Dimitry Bivol 8/10

There was a point at around round 4-6 that Beterbiev looked like he was cruising to victory, then Bivol turned it around and deserved the nod. A good/almost great fight, but, for Nash, twice is enough. Dr. Dre once said something about 'making way for new names and faces'. It's time for them.

I thought Nash was going to troll and say Bivol didn’t really beat Artur again

Nash calls it as he sees it (most of the time) There was only one winner last night. The first fight could have went either way. It was very tight and I felt Bivol faded down the stretch. Last night, though Beterbiev had a great spell around 4-6, once Bivol stepped back on the gas he never let off. Beterbiev made a real fight of it, but anything other than a Bivol win and he would have been robbed. I think a 3rd fight goes to Bivol the same or even wider, that's why I'm not as excited for it as some may be, but at the same time, it would be good to have a winner of the series and couldn't right Beterbiev off. I believe His Excellency is worried that Nash may take his spotlight. Of course, His Excellency has great respect for Nash, but if boxers start thanking Nash Out - His Most Majestic Majesty instead of His Excellency, then that could cause so much trouble the Face of Boxing Jake Paul would have to be called in to call to make peace of the whole situation. I actually thought the Stephenson fight wasn't the worst on the card - that honorific belongs to Adames and Sheeraz. Padley made the Stephenson fight worth watching and for an electrician who only part time boxes and was flown in at the last minute to give Shakur an easy win, he made a good account of himself and was even able to land often. I won't mind seeing him again.
