Keyshawn Davis and Andy Cruz should do a title fight eventually while they are still in their prime in the mid-late 20s, that is for sure.

That being said saying that just because the corrupt alphabet soup decided not to "order" Canelo to fight him, it doesn't change the fact that David Benavidez was ranked the no. 1 ranked guy in WBC (and practically the whole division outside Canelo) for three years. Saying that UNDISPUTED champion Canelo ducking Benavidez and WBO beltholder Keyshawn Davis ducking WBO no. 15 Andy Cruz is quite a stretch just because of amateur background. Frankly given that WBC no. 1 Andy Cruz and WBC beltholder Shakur Stevenson are both promoted by the same company, Cruz should be looking to fight him as it is the easiest fight to make. Unless Andy Cruz thinks he can win against Keyshawn but is worried that Shakur will beat him so he doesn't want to go that route.

But it’s ingenuous to say “oh, Andy Cruz is merely ranked #15 by the WBO.” He is considered top 5 in the world by 3 out of the 4 sanctioning bodies.

And as already mentioned he was 4-0 against Keyshawn in the Olympics, including in their gold medal match.

I would bet money that Keyshawn fights someone ranked lower in his next fight.

So Canelo wasn’t obligated to fight him. Just like how you now claim Keyshawn is not obligated to fight Andy Cruz.

Personally I'd like him to get at least one belt. If they're both the truth, that should be at minimum a unification fight. Ideally an undisputed fight. Why waste it on a voluntary defense? That's just crappy business. And if Cruz isn't good enough to get a belt, especially if Tank and Loma are both retiring soon and he'll just have to fight for a vacant belt, who even cares? How long is he going to keep his pro career single digit fights?

BS. Benavidez was Canelo's mandatory and that's a fact. Nothing needed to be "called". Your boy ducked his mandatory Benavidez but had no problems defending against a C level mandatory like Avni Yirdirim.
