Still don't get how some of these be dudes be getting title shots after losses. All these promotional companies do that BS, but PBC is the king of it when it comes to their favored fighters. Putting aside how undeserving Russell is of this fight, should be a good scrap between the two boxer-punchers.

Gary Antuanne Russell fought for a world title in his last fight. It’s not like he is just some guy.

You can thank the WBA, they did the same thing with Rolly.

I like the Russell bros and I'm DMV, too.
But the dude lost his last fight. If he was an elite superstar, yeah, another title shot coming off a loss could maybe be justified. But that's not Gary Antuanne, is it?

Even disregarding direct rematches, it seems like there's more cases of a loser of a title match immediately getting another opportunity. Other than the aforementioned Russell and Rollie off the top of my head there's Tszyu (yes yes the cut, but still applies), Higa (lost to Takei, fighting Tsutsumi next), Madrimov (sure its interim, but Crawford then Ortiz)...

Don't forget Fundora (was coming off a KO loss...went straight to a unification with Tszyu) they were trying to get Spence coming off the loss to Bud, to fight for those belts next. Joe Cordina was going to fight Shakur before the injury postponement, etc.

It's been a weird trend in boxing lately.
