His second wife was 17 when he married her but he met her when she was 10. She was raised within the Nation of Islam and her parents arranged for her to marry Ali when she was a child. He cheated on her with a 16 year old, who he got pregnant. His last wife was also introduced to him as a child.

I love Ali but he was a complicated person & definitely not a saint. He sometimes treated women appallingly. His name calling v Frazier was de****able against a decent man who had done nothing wrong beyond trying to fight for a better life for hisself & his family. He castigated mixed-ethnicity relationships based on nothing but some rubbish he'd been told by Herbert X (although we can see how seriously his own daughters took that). For all that, as the quote goes, taken all in all he was a great man & his achievements way outweigh his failings.
