Comments Thread For: Fighting Words: Ryan Garcia-Devin Haney II and whether any lessons were learned

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney are like a persistent infection: irritating and sickening and maddening. Now Garcia and Haney have reemerged. This latest case is threatening to break out into something as bad as, or potentially even worse, than the first.

'Nor has Haney seen how he will perform at, say, the welterweight limit. That’s what Haney must do with any interim fight before his rematch with Garcia. He could have given himself far more time to acclimate and adjust over these past nine months. He didn’t.'

Haney knows full, damn well he can't be competitive at welterweight. Boots would brutalise the man. Haney also knows he can no longer safely make 140. That puts him in a difficult situation & Ryan is his (white) saviour. Believe me, Haney needs to fight Ryan Garcia because if he fights any other elite fighter he's toast. If he spends 2 months training, not eating, spending every spare hour in the sauna to make 140 do you seriously think he will be competitive v Teo, Catterall, Subrias? If, by contrast, he steps up then, yes, he might beat Staionis, some of the others, but you know he won't beat, won't even be competitive v Boots.

I sleep better at night as a boxing fan knowing I do not care and will give neither of these two boxers any more of my attention. I do appreciate the balanced article- criticize both men who really need it.

This is boxing today . Peds and Social media. Even the Al - Sheikh can’t escape it . I guess I can’t escape it either because I enjoy the Al - Shiekh shows and will be watching . Hopefully guy’s like Opetaia Beterbiev Itauma Benavidez are not pushed down the card to make way for the like’s of haney.

                Zero lessons learned then.

It's a strange one because despite all the hype & the now legitimately bad blood (pun intended), the one thing I simply cannot see happening is Haney coming in with bad intentions & really hurting Garcia, in deliberate personal business revenge.

So, the only thing potentially able to spark my interest in a rematch doesn't even seem possible

Good chance rematch does not happen if Garcia is going to have a "tune up" against Cruz and spend half the fight covering up and turning his back because he does not have any gas in his tank to fight for three minutes. Cruz will attack him relentlessly and not give him any chance to catch a breather.

i hear you Lando seems a while back everyone online here was talking about how much they had nothing to do with this fight or fighters n trashed them. And what happens they start (promo boys) trolling for a sense of how much money can be made and it get interest. Promo's dont care if you hate there fighters or want to meet them as long as they get your attention and your dollars. Free hype articles have started with these two about five days ago, same routine dif set of garbage heads they are trying to sell..................
