As for all time lists, well he doesn't have the list of defenses so he doesn't get there yet.

Mind you, his performances against Joshua and Fury were as good as anything I've seen at heavyweight. Just an incredible level. You don't see many heavyweights do what he does. If any.
You’ve never seen Ali-Frazier, the Rumble in the Jungle, Bowe-Holyfield I, etc?

people were saying fury was one of the greats, people were even saying wilder lol. then their careers happened...he did beat 3 top guys which is super impressive but his hw resume is pretty light besides that, obviously you want quality over quantity but you want some quantity as well against solid contenders. he is way above a guy like vitali but of course way behind guys like ali or louis.

Of course. I put Usyk's individual performances against both Joshua and Fury up there in historical terms considering the size and weight difference too.

Bowe v Holyfield was a great fight. Not necessarily a masterclass.

hes prob no different than other guys who clean out divisions & keep their 0, they all have their fans and because they still have their 0 they do very well in fantasy matchups, people can give out about usyk fans but if they think they might have done the same with some guy in the past with a good record who actually takes on all comers, thats important, how good is he compared to other eras we will never know, depends on how u rate guys like fury joshua wilder wlad etc taking into account prime age etc, its very hard to do if not impossible

I love this quote and I think it sums up the situation perfectly, and exactly what I see when i watch Usyk. I really don't see anything special like when I watched a floyd masterclass, or Manny, or any greats from the past. I just see a solid well oiled machine, doing the basics very well but nothing spectacular in anyway.

thats fair enough, u would need to match him up with prime lennox to see whats what, id say even usyks diehards would put lennos as fav in that matchup

I agree, there's a weird phenomena around Usyk where after each fight a bunch of people act like it wasn't competitive, Usyk never got hit and he didn't drop any rounds

A guy in this thread compared Usyk over AJ to all time great performances.

I mean we JUST saw AJ get dropped 5 times and not win a second of a round before getting iced by Dubois, but that guy wouldn't mention that in the same breath as the rumble in the jungle.

Its very strange but personally after both AJ and Fury fights I felt they were 7-5 or 6-4 type fights that were somewhat competitive but Usyk took them by a handful of rounds, but loads of other people apparently saw Floyd vs Gatti 4 times

Usyk scores alot of points on flurries where not much lands. The special part of his ability is that he can come forward against larger guys and not get hit. Defensively he is special. Fury landed alot of hard jabs and won more rounds than he got credit for, based on Usyk's flurries and his ability to keep Fury off balance most of the fight.

The fights were boring and really draws. Neither guy "beat" either guy. Fury has pissed off alot of people in the sport and it has caught up to him, those decisions were not based solely on the rounds. Fury also shows signs of aging and he has been in some wars.

Usyk is a great fighter, no doubt. But he isn't a particularly exciting fighter and he never has been, he is not a big draw. The HW division is more fun when he isn't in it.

The fights were meh and no one cares really. That is the truth. And that is pretty incredible when you realize that we are talking about unifying the HW belts.
