What if someone loses his first 2 fights and is then mathematically out of the tournament, but then beats one of the champs in his 3rd and final bout? That guy will then exit the tournament with one of the belts.

      Exactly.

Imagine this: Kessler, Abraham, Froch wins first round.
Kessler takes both titles round two, Taylor looses his second fight too.
      Taylor beats Kessler round 3.
      No titles in play.

Exactly. Have the organisers thought about that scenario?? Furthermore, most pro boxers nowadays have enough trouble scheduling and showing up for one fight, let alone 3-5 fights. Injuries cause delays all the time. Plus, if one of the fighters, particularly one of the relative novices like Dirrell/Ward gets KOd brutally in the first fight, will his team REALLY want him to immediately face 2 more top 10 SMWs? Have they got a back-up plan for if a fighter pulls out of the competition after his first loss?

Very interesting point of view. I actually think Direll/Ward would quit, as their not even high level competition careers have started. But don't you think they've made some "you have to pay to leave" agreements?

If anything, I think the title bouts have MORE meaning in the tournament. This is the first time in years we will be treated to a series of title bouts with totally worthy contenders.

I hope they have, but promoters often find a way out of these things when they really want to.

Yeah, so let's hope the titles remain in the competition at the final 4 stage.

Added to that will the Organisations make the champions defend there belts with mandatory's while the 2 year tourney is running ala Kessler Perdomo ????

                Your thoughts ????
the winner of the tourny should end up with atleast 2 belts.
