Are the World Title's in the Super 6 meaningless !!!!

Does it really matter whether World Title's change hands in the upcoming Super Six tournament , as at the end of the day if all goes well we will have a clear number one fighter in the SPMW division and the World Title's are elementary .

Added to that will the Organisations make the champions defend there belts with mandatory's while the 2 year tourney is running ala Kessler Perdomo ????

    Your thoughts ????

Firstly there are no mandatory obligatons until the Tournament ends.

And secondly, I think the titles are worthless when considering the tournament will establish a champion. But the titles do add glamour to bouts...and of course people will want to become a 'world champion' by claiming a belt along the way.

I've stopped paying any respect to any of the four titles anymore. I try my best to recognise one lineal champion in each division. This tournament should clear that up for the SMW division with Calzaghe's retirement.

Thats a good question and actually this tournament goes against everythng the sanctuoning bodie are all about.

The sanctining bodies will make special rules so teh fighter keep the belst and doent fight the mandatories and they can collect the $$$$$.

But in all fairness they mean **** to the tournament and this is how it should be.

Jose Sulaiman said the WBC would not enforce a mandatory defence while the tournament continues. And then I'm sure the WBA followed suit after.

But anyway like you say, even if they did enforce a defence, the fighter would discard them and prove how worthless they are. This tournament is the road to the championship.

I wouldn't have lost sleep if they weren't apart of it, but the fact they are and at least the WBC has fully endorsed it is a good sign.

I assume the WBA won't enforce mandatories too.

No. Even if it's a paper title, always better to have 1 on your resume than not.

No, they give you an idea of who the top 4-5 fighters in a division are. Even the winner of the tourney may not be the clear cut best at SMW. Some ppl will still wonder how the winner would do against Bute if he beats Andrade and remains unbeaten getting wins over the next 2 years. What if Allan Green gets some good wins in this span of time or someone else emerges as a top contender at SMW?......this doesn't solve very much though I look forward to great fights that are evenly matched. They didn't pick the right combination of fighters for the tourney to determine a clear cut #1 at SMW.
