Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis on therapy and bettering himself outside of the ring

We first spoke 10 years ago. Gervonta "Tank" Davis was 19 years old, a featherweight prospect who was 8-0 with 8 knockouts, about to make his television debut, and excited to move further forward in a sport that had taken him off the streets of Baltimore.

If he feels that he needs to exorcise some demons from his past and now is the opportunity to do it, why not. He has to be true to it.

Guys like Tank, Crawford & others come from rough childhoods so they get tough. Tank now wants to become a nicer guy so that's a good thing.

I don't belittle or begrudge anyone wanting to work on their mental health, especially someone who gets punched for a living.

I think boxing has taught him a few lessons. He just needs to keep going forward and give back.

            - Just checked the Barclays Center website and a nose-bleed general admission ticket is $188 including all fees and taxes.
            - If prices drop, I may attend this event as I am a train ride and subway ride away from Brooklyn NYC.

It seems to me like Gervonta has plenty of money to retire comfortably , so there's no need for him to continue to risk his health in the ring. His priorities have shifted away from boxing and it's his life, he should live it as he wishes. If he thinks that he will be better off away from boxing , I hope that he is right and accomplishes his goals . It sounds like he's done some growing up and is seeking personal growth. Good for him and his family. Best of luck to him , I wish him success.

Scumbag should be in jail for all the women he's harmed over the years. Won't be surprised the next time he's arrested, either.

I can respect what he’s saying. Difficult to work on issues with anger and rage, when you’re keeping a job that specifically involves the use of anger and rage.

Fk this dude, he should’ve been in jail for that accident he ran from in Vegas. I’m all for separation of personal and professional but mofos do some of the worst shhhh out there and think a knockout or I’m gonna work on myself fixes that. Man ruined peoples lives forever. We as boxing fans look past a lot of shhh with our athletes and it’s honestly gonna hurt a lot more athletes in the long run than do them good. Had this dude really been held accountable and changed his ways is one thing. This is all bullshhhh just like fury snorting his way to paranoia and then using that as an excuse to get help, bro, you failed a test and then used your vice as an excuse to change the narrative. God this and god that while still coked out of your mind regularly. Only reason fury has spent so much time in Saudi it’s because it’s the only place on the planet he can be and not be coked up.
