  • Comments Thread For: Daily Bread Mailbag: Vergil Ortiz vs. Boots Ennis, Benavidez vs. Morrell, memories of Emanuel Steward and the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fall-out

In this week's mailbag, coach Stephen "Breadman" Edwards reflects on what happened in Texas between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, as well at Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano, and he looks ahead to the fascinating clash between light heavyweights David Benavidez and David Morrell while recalling a treasured conversation with the great Emanuel Steward.

Breadman sure loves the taste of email ennis booty.

Ortiz smashes him. Ortiz fought a bigger more skilled guy than booty did. Email ennis struggled with a guy he had a W over and somehow looked worse lmfao

Ortiz fought an opponent with no defense and was stopped by Brian Adams. The same Adams that people like you crapped on when Jermall Charlo defended his belt against him. So you can stop with the fake hype of Bohachuk. He dropped Ortiz twice and sent him to the hospital afterwards.

Breadman was spot on. Ortiz looked far worse in his last fight than Boots did and it wasn't because Ortiz fought a great opponent no matter how much you want to overrate him for your agenda.

Lmfao those flash knockdowns mean nothing. Yall acting like he was hurt

Booty rematched a guy he already beat in boring fashion and looked worse. He's gonna stay at 147 cause he gets beat tf up at 154. That simple boy

Ennis can't get a fight with Norman, Stanionis (who Virgil did), Barrios, and wont move to fight Vergil who is the the same Network. Hearn is going to keep him safe a while. Ennis doesn't have the power to stop 147s like his last opponent (In 2 fights), let alone the bigger guys at 154.

“What we have to realize is that knocking out or dominating an elite level fighter is not easy. And when fighters routinely do it, we need to appreciate it but not expect it to happen every time that scenario comes up. What we see Bam Rodriguez do to ageing fighters is not what every young fighter is capable of. Bam is special. Zepeda is good. There is a difference. “

Great quote and he is spot on. Boxing fans need to develop better discernment…don’t be in a rush to label everyone as special, learn to actually recognize it and savor it when it truly comes along. Which realistically isn’t going to be that often.

Good mailbag. The conversation with Manny is very interesting...I remember all those Kronk fighters representing the gym in the yellow, blue and red colors.

I would love to see that Boot/Ortiz matchup. Both have shown some flaws but ultimately it comes down to matchups and I think En is probably wins that one.

The difference is SNAC by Victor Conte who works with VADA.

This is incorrect. Ortiz won every round besides the rounds he got knocked down in. Bohachuk can crack and he is MUCH better than karen. Tito trinidad used to get knocked down in his fights often too. Ortiz is the best at 147/154 time will tell. Ennis still targeting barrios. That’s says it all. Ortiz jr targeting the top of 154 and booty ennis targeting 135 lb bums. Bread man is clown
