Comments Thread For: Could the David Benavidez-David Morrell winner get Canelo next?

The winner of the David Benavidez-David Morrell showdown fighting Canelo next would thrill the fans, but perhaps not Canelo himself.

They both looked bad in their last fights... but I'd still guess that no.

if benny looks good he wont get it, if he looks bad he wont get it, he needs to look medium & make some noise about how it might be hard to get down to 168 again moan moan etc & canelo might start thinking about it, or maybe not

Lol he'll no. Look how he struggled with a d level bernalgas. Why would he fight guys better than him.

I would be surprised if Eubank isn't carnelas next fight

Looking at Canelo prior to the Bivol loss and the Canelo now is like night and day in regards to his attitude towards competition. It's like the dude is absolutely scared stiff of losing again. It's shameful considering the respect he commanded before this was a narrative. He has lost so much respect from fans it's sad. I was a monster fan before it became impossible to defend him.

Seriously doubt it. In his last 4 fights, Canelo has fought a bum (Ryder), a fighter from not one but two weight classes below (Charlo), a fighter totally undeserving/unqualified for the opportunity (Mungia) and a fighter even more undeserving/unqualified than Mungia (Berlanga). Can’t see Canelo being willing to fight either.

That would be the best fight in boxing that could be made. Canelo would say that they are fighting at 175 and he is at 168.

Canelo: No, they have both disrespected me, and I won't give them the payday. I have done enough for the sport."

I can actually hear him say those words. Very funny. In terms of chances - two, slim and none. Slim has left the building (together with Elvis).
