They’re asked about the fight because it’s a fight that real boxing people know would’ve been one of the biggest fights in the sport, and Canelo hasn’t had a truly big fight since the ggg rematch in 2018. So you can’t blame them for answering questions about it.
I tend to complain about grown men whining.

Seems like you just have the tendency to complain and don’t like Canelo being made to look like a puss. May want to follow tennis if hearing grown men want to fight the so called best in their division in a combat sport makes
      you emotional.

I think you misunderstand what I am saying. My point is the focus should be on boxing. There is too much attention here paid to anything but boxing. Every article seemly is turned into commentary about Canelo, promoters, purses, or some such thing. As for Canelo, he like the other boxers is an independent agent. If he fights people who folks don't approve of, they should not watch the fight. If he is violating rules he should be stripped of his titles. I remember when people used to rag on Mayweather for not fighting boxers in their prime, yet he set record PPV numbers. I defended Mayweather then. While boxers who fought Mayweather made great money the difference now is that boxers who fight Canelo make generational wealth money, so these wannabe opponents and their acolytes whine and complain all the more. I guess that is a sign of the times.

Ok. Agreed that the focus should be on boxing and in my opinion, Benavidez deserves credit for not just waiting on a Canelo fight. We’ve seen boxers go inactive for extended amounts of time and fighting low level opponents for the sole purpose of trying to land a Canelo fight. Benavidez hasn’t done that. He fought plant, who he was trying to fight before Canelo did, he fought Andrade and now he’s fighting Morrell. He may be answering questions that he’s asked regarding Canelo, but he’s creating his own legacy instead of waiting around. I think what Canelo’s doing is a disgrace and the belt organizations are even more de****able because they’re enabling this nonsense. I guess where we differ is I don’t mind Canelo getting called out because I believe there should be some level of accountability for not making the real fights.

I guess we agree to large degree. I too don't mind Canelo being called out. He gets called out just about every day, but the incessant complaining week after week, year after year by all these same folks becomes old. Maybe I have lost all patience over the years and you can add me to the list of irritable people who post on these websites. As an aside, I think Benavidez is a good boxer with an exciting style. If he focuses on himself and not on mentioning Canelo at every opportunity he will build a good fan base in his own right. Peace!

So what is the expiry date for criticizing an active champion who keeps cherry picking bums? I would have thought he deserves to be criticized constantly until he drops the belts or fights a top contender? That is specific to boxing.

The expectations of Canelo is crazy. He’s the only fighter expected to fight fighters in higher weight classes. People are already bashing him if he doesn’t fight Beterbiev ffs
