  • Comments Thread For: Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez: 'I don't see Pedro Guevara beating me, my confidence is high'

After pummeling the likes of Juan Francisco Estrada, Sunny Edwards, Carlos Cuadras and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai over the last two and a half years, breakout star and WBC super flyweight champion Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez has ascended to the pound-for-pound list and is 23-0 (13 KOs). He is taking somewhat of a "softer touch" by fighting Pedro Guevara on November 9.

Nobody else does either. He's been around forever is how they describe Pedro. Prime Eddy.

To me it's not about whether Bam can get the W (he will), it's about whether he can get the stoppage. Guevara has never been stopped and is usually in very close fights at the top level. He got to this fight by winning a SD over Moloney, and here is his record vs major world titlists:
D vs Mario Rodriguez SD 12 (future IBF strawweight champion)
L vs John Riel Casimero SD 12 (3 division world titlist)
W vs Raul Garcia SD 12 (former 2X strawweight world titlist)
W vs Mario Rodriguez UD 12 (former IBF strawweight champion)
W vs Akira Yaegashi TKO 7 (3 division world titlist)
W vs Ganigan Lopez UD 12 (future WBC light flyweight champion)
L vs Yu Kimura SD 12 (took the WBC light flyweight belt from Guevara)
W vs Oswaldo Novoa SD 8 (former WBC strawweight champion)
L vs Kenshiro Teraji MD 12 (reigning and future light flyweight champion, future WBC flyweight champion)
L vs Carlos Cuadras SD 12 (former WBC super flyweight champion)

Look at all those SDs and MDs. Guevara is tough, smart, experienced. He has a chin, he knows how to change the pace of a fight to suit his needs. It will be a nice feather in Bam's cap if he can be the first to stop him.

Minor detail but Teraji is now a 2 division world titlist
