This writer, David Griesman (no surprises here) writes, “Many critics call this effort sportswashing that is intended to change the narrative about the country and its human rights record.”

He leaves out the part that the US executes people the same way Saudi Arabia does. Two by Nitrogen Hypoxia which has been deemed a human rights violation by every human rights agency on the planet including every single one in the US.

We still get to host the World Cup and many other international events to sportswash our human rights record.

America hating leftie never misses that golden opportunity to bash America in true leftie style. Let’s forget the fact that not for the America you hate, (citing your German reference) the world would be speaking German and some Japanese. But hey, what’s new with the blame America first crowd.

As for your last name, I thought it was French, like their soccer star (and their bourgeoisie selective outrage). The misspelling was a typo.

As for the “intention of “making a profit”, are you also saying when China was (and still) paying gazillions of dollars to foreign soccer players, they do so to make a profit? They did not make a profit. Were they sportswashing?

How about the 2014 World Cup in Brazil? Was it profitable? Nope. It was a colossal loss. Was it sportswashing?

The 2014 World Cup was the most expensive World Cup at the time, costing an estimated $11.6 billion. Brazil spent an estimated $15 billion on building stadiums, transportation, and other infrastructure.

How about the 2022 World Cup in Qatar? They’ve certainly been accused of sportswashing. And no, they did not make a profit then either.

So, why the double standards when it comes to specific nations in the Mid East when the West does the same exact thing if not worse?

Thank you for your polite and thoughtful response. I've been on these message boards since even before I began writing for BoxingScene in 2004, and I'm a boxing fan as well, so of course I'll read through what's being said here and in other forums. =)

Just to make sure we're on the same page here — are you agreeing or disagreeing that Saudi Arabia is sports-washing?

Disagreeing is one conversation. Agreeing but asking whether I'm also upset about other countries' actions is another. To make my stance clear: Bad things are bad, no matter who does them.

If it's easier to move from the message board and have an actual conversation, I'm always open to that. Lord knows the number of times in "real life" that a conversation has been more appropriate than a series of emails or text messages.

He didn't do much running for this one from what I could see, it was all bike work and treadmill

Bob wants to capitalise on Beterbiev's new found fame and status and have him fight during the Riyadh season against a mandatory or Benavidez before Ramadan and perhaps one more in between before fighting Bivol.

That way they can maximize revenue for all parties involved

It would be wise for Hearn to do the same with Bivol also

That’s realistic. Not only that but Camelot can win; his upper body movement is better than Bibols. He’s just small for the weight

Bivol should kick his ass the next time; Just like he did this time but was not awarded the decision.

Hopefully, he would settle down on his punches for more power and knock this chump out. While implementing less movement this time.
