Comments Thread For: Luis Ortiz, 45, clamoring for a chance to disrupt heavyweight division

The heavyweight division has been white-hot over the last year, largely thanks to Saudi Arabia's investment in boxing. Riyadh Season has already hosted eight showcase cards over the last year around the world, with another one set for December 21.

His legs are gone. His chin seemed okay but every time he got hit his legs failed him against both Charles Martin and Andy Ruiz. I had him winning the Ruiz fight, but even still, it's a bad idea for him to continue fighting.

His punch resistance is gone. Wilder took a lot out of him, Ruiz finished him off.

A strong breeze would knock him down at this point.

Ortiz vs Chisora would be fun. Or let Fischer, Torrez or Ajagba try n get by old King Kong.

45 is ancient by any measure!!
However; we should consider that some of those Cuban fighters turn pro very late and he was one of those. He went 349-19 as an amateur and was a top Cuban heavyweight; and didn't peak as a pro until 2018.
Although Wilder destroyed him twice, he was the 10th best heavyweight of the 2015 - 2025 era and remains number 15 in the world after smashing up Charles Martin and fighting to a standstill against Andy Ruiz.
With his power, it's STILL not out of the question that he catches some of the contenders ranked above him, I suppose.
