  • Comments Thread For: Campbell Hatton starting over after 15 fights

Lots of fighters talk about making changes to their preparation after suffering their first defeat but, generally, that involves moving a few miles down the road to a new trainer or employing a new dietician or strength and conditioning guru.

I respect the young Hatton for stepping in the ring but I think he may have reached his ceiling. From what I recall, he's been fortunate to get a few of the decisions that have gone in his favor.

Maybe he improved enough to beat Jimmy Joe Flint in the rematch but I would be surprised if he moves any further up after that.

yea i follow what you are saying about Hatton i wondered what became of him, at first he was being pushed his name was being shoved out there he was being given opportunities that most new guys did not recieve. It was a name thing and maybe a few favors put in. Just as Tsy found out last night you can not live off the rep of your father when the challenges come up. Hey Boxing sells itself anyway it can and fighters can get by for a while on hype but sooner or later they have a real challenge and there handlers can not get in the ring for them, nor can there Fathers pass on something from a time long ago something the Sons do not possess..............

Poor Campbell hasn't been blessed with too many braincells so I am not sure how far he can go

it is not the brain power that will do him in it is the lack of punching power in the ring.......

In a way, Islands are a comfort zone as a whole. Cheap imports don't prepare a fighter for the outer world. Road warriors rule. The apron strings will strangle him.

He's living the life and that is commendable , the grind is hard and for someone who doesn't have to , good luck to him..

Ricky was so good with that style because the power, angles and technique on his bodyshots would send shockwaves through people.

Campbell just doesn't have that power or technique to dig in those shots. Unfortunately it means the style he uses just won't work.

Hopefully Ben Davison can make him try something new, other than trying to emulate dad, when he's not strong enough to. The move away from the Hattons makes sense.

He's got heart, so let's see if he can do something different in the ring too.
