Maybe they're hoping Goodman's side will win, so Inoue will get a nice paycheck in Australia, rather than Goodman getting the Inoue in Japan payday, and they can save their money for opponents who will be more appealing to Japanese and American audiences, who don't care about Goodman, especially after his stunt forced the Doheny fight.

Would be nice to see Inoue in UK or even Saudi to make for a better time zone for non-Japanese viewers. Of course that is not the focus of Inoue, but would surely help expand his fanbase around the world.

Inoue has fought in the US and Scotland before. Those who are actually fans are already fans. The rest don't care about the lower weight divisions and have already proven that they still won't be fans no matter where he fights. Please stop spreading this false narrative that he doesn't fight out of Japan. He made his US debut years ago, defending his title by devastating knockout, and Western fans didn't care. This whole narrative is just the last ditch effort to defend bigotry. Those that know already acknowledge him. If you don't, that's on you.

It's a giant double standard. He's fought outside his country far more than many popular Western fighters have. Should Errol Spence Jr or Jermell Charlo have fought outside their home countries more than once to be big stars? Tank Davis has only fought outside his home country once. David Benavidez has only fought in the US and Mexico. The fact is that Japan is the home of boxing for the lower weight classes now. Fighters will go where the money is, and Western fans don't pay for the lower weight classes.

......Okay it is definite now, Goodman contrary to what he has said absolutely does NOT want to fight Inoue.
He is waiting for the "negotiations" to fall through and look like he tried to get a fight then swipe a belt after they are vacated.

Only issue with that is that I'm pretty sure Ohashi/Teiken was trying to line up Takei and other's fights under the Inoue-Goodman in Japan, so Naoya just going to Australia alone kinda leaves a gaping hole on that end.

That's not what the article says at all. The dispute is between two promoters who have an interest in Inoue, not with Goodman's team. The fight will happen in Japan, what is to be determined is who will be the main promoter

12/31 is likely Ioka rematch with Martinez. Inoue is 12/24 but yeah, point stands. Goodman just doesn't want to look like he ducked by saying stuff but bottomline, that they are not able to reach agreement says otherwise.

Or for some unknown reason he overrates himself so much that he's asking for more money than guys like Fulton/Tapales got for their belts, although he's got no belts.
