He's the next blue chip prospect with the biggest spotlight on him, we'll keep seeing him in there with lesser opposition for several more years probably. I expect we'll see him creep onto some bigger TV undercards against guys with famous last names/fathers and then he'll fight some old/out the door guys next.

Expecting that Canelo circa 2009 kind of come-up

I will say- I've got my eye more on Abdullah Mason for these younger fighters making noise right now

Being with Floyd, I expect careful management so that he never actually achieves his full potential, just like Tank. Floyd doesn't want to have the next Floyd Mayweather out there jeopardizing his record, so he'll encourage Moton to take it slow and treat it like a business. Kid will make money, but never come close to being HOF, even if he has the skill for it.

Only an idiot would acknowledge anything that comes out of the mouth of an 18 year old in the sport of boxing...and what idiot would remember that he read something or heard the kid had something to say about Inoue.

I never believed he would break any records based on fight numbers given he's promoted by Mayweather. But I'm willing to give credit deserved if he ends up accomplishing similar or better results to Inoue, and his first check in the box is world title before age 21.

Besides, technically speaking Inoue isn't even the fastest Japanese boxer to win a world title. That belongs to Kosei Tanaka who has the record for 1st title, 3 division title, and 4 division title record. However no one thinks Tanaka is greater as a boxer than Inoue to be honest.

you don’t think Tank is likely going to HOF ?

What a concerned fan you are...you must really hate Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia after suspensions for cheating and all the other past cheaters. Name another young fighter you have a problem with whistleblower. You definitely must have a list so you wouldn't point out just one fighter? Right? It would be fair and reasonable to document your assumptions? No? Who else is on your list?

Given how low the bar has become, his name value along with being a "three division champion (never unified and two regular belts)" might get him in, as bad as his resume is.

I'm more interested in if Navarette will make it, given he's got a similar type of skimpy multi-division champion status but not Tank's name value.

He really shouldn't. If he does, it just goes to show how biased and flawed the voters are, because his resume, as it stands, is paltry. How many wins does he have against opponents ranked in his own division at the time of fight? He's only ever won real titles at 130. His titles at 135 and 140 were secondary titles, and his current one was emailed to him, without him fighting anyone who ever held the real version. And that's leaving aside all the rehydration clauses and bringing up guys from smaller divisions to gull the credulous into thinking he's facing real threats.

There's a subset of boxing fans that will believe anything. I actually had someone try to tell me that Berlanga was a dangerous fight for Canelo that was close to being a 50/50, FFS.

We actually care enough to celebrate it, vacant or not. Just like we were happy to see Kenshiro win his second division and Iwata his first on a vacant title. Technically speaking Nakatani was vacant too (granted it was more due to the owner vacating it due to not wanting to face him but that is besides the point). Its just that no one with any kind of boxing knowledge is going to point to that Kosei got to 4 divisions in less matches than Inoue as the reason to argue that Tanaka is a better boxer, but an accomplishment is an accomplish.

shouldn't, but he's american and he's popular so as long as he keeps KOing guys 1-2 divisions below him, he'll get in.
