  • My Scorecard For Bivol-Beterbiev & Notes, Share Yours Too

How Biv can convincingly win the rematch. Stand his ground and throw more instead of disengaging after being up on points. Biv has a big edge in hand speed so use it. Bet struggles to counter combos especially at range.

Judges are harsh towards "being negative" or disengaging once you're up on points. A boxer must fight like he WANTS a DOMINANT win.

Bet's trainer Marc Ramsay understands professional boxing. He instructed Bet to turn it up in the second half. He knows judges like throwing shots and coming forward even when it doesn't land.

    Final Scorecard: Bivol 115-113 Beterbiev

    Bivol: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12
    Beterbiev: 4, 6, 8, 10, 11

I've included some incomplete notes about the rounds.

Round 1 Bivol controls the round with his jab. Bivol lands a cute left hook. A right hand. A right hand to the body. Bet gets a nice right hand in but also takes a counter right.

Round 2 Good left hook downstairs from Bet. Biv scoring lotta points with his jab. Good right hand downstairs from Bet. Biv lands a check left hook that makes Bet hesitant for the rest of the round. Biv lands a right hand.

Round 3 Bet right hand to the body. Biv right hand to the body. Biv lands 3 or 4 power shots to the head of Bet. Bet lands a right around the guard. Biv counters Bet with a right. Biv counters Bet with another right. Bet gets a right hand down the pipe in. Bet lands two rights around the guard. Biv punctuates the round with a counter.

Round 4 Biv landed the cleaner punches, but Bet outworked him and was coming forward. I think the judges liked this. A could go either way round that I scored for Bet.

Round 5 Biv stands his ground this round. Lands a beautiful right hand downstairs then right upstairs looking like Mayweather. Bet eats a counter right. Biv with a crispy check left hook you can hear the crunch. Good jabbing from Bet lands a power jab. Bet lands a good long range right hook downstairs. Excited Bet lunges in and gets countered.

Round 6 Best Bet round so far. Biv was too passive in the 1st 2 minutes. Bet seals the deal in the final 30 seconds with a bodyshot that HURT Biv

Round 7 Biv good right hand counter about 25 seconds in. Jab-right hook around the guard. Crunchy jab to the body from Biv. Biv lands two jabs to the face. Biv scores points with combos where 2 shots land. Biv lands a big 2-3 counter about 1:55 into the round. Follows it up with landing 2 or 3 more shots. Biv ucks up by being happy with his lead in points. Goes negative and allowing Bet to punctuate the end of the round with a relentless come forward pressure

Round 8 A jabbing round where Bet lands most of the power punches.

Round 9 CLEAR Bivol round despite taking his foot off the gas in the final minute and being happy with his points lead.

Round 10 Bet outworks Biv. Bivol was too negative and barely threw anything besides a landed 2 punch combo later into the round

Round 11 Biv dominates the 1st minute giving Bet a boxing lesson. Bet gets his revenge in the next 2 minutes of the round and taxes that ass. Biv limited inside fighting skill showed.

Round 12 Biv did the cuter cleaner work. Bet was more active. Biv shoots himself in the foot by scoring points THEN chilling opening up the possibility for a could go either way round.

Pretty much yes. Wasnt a robery, but the wrong man won the fight, though I can see a case for Bivol fighting scared after the 9th. Even with that I thought he won it. Close but good. Artur wasn't too triggerhappy in here either, so Bivol must have gained some respect

I had it 115 - 113, by mistake I did not save the scorecards, but could have gone either way. Did not complain about 114 - 114. but was not 116 - 112

Didn't keep a scorecard, but my impression was that of a draw-ish fight which Beterbiev won due to his hurting of Bivol several times.

Still, I was surprised when they really gave it to Beterbiev. I expected the judges to favor the flashy spurts of Bivol, à la Leonard vs Hagler.

I don't think it was a robbery, but I had it a draw or Bivol byba round. Good technical fight, just felt Beterbiev didn't do enough to warrant the decision. Especially NOT to the score of 116 which is utter bs imho.

They're both open for a rematch which is great, and Turki, who scored it for Bivol said he'd do everything in his power to make the rematch happen.

116-112 Beterbiev. He was controlling the geography of the ring and actually landing damaging punches. I can see 115-113, I can maybe see a draw, I can’t see how you score it to Bivol personally.

I gave him rounds 1, 2 and 5, and then one more which I can’t pin point. Will definitely rewatch and re-score at some point next week.

                  116-112 Beterbiev for me.

One thing a lot of people don't understand unless you've seen Beterbiev live, is how loud every punch is. I guarantee that had an effect on the judges.

Some of the rounds were hard to score cause they were so back & forth competitive, but we were treated to one of the best technical fights of the year.

Although he put in a lot of the better work, landing cleaner combos, and even hurting Beterbiev a few times, Bivol gave away too many rounds taking his foot off the pedal early in the fight, and running and covering up in defense in the later rounds after feeling the relentless pace Beterbiev put up.

I hope a rematch happens sooner than later.
