Inside the Top Ten: Super Middleweight

By Jake Donovan/Cliff Rold - In case anyone reading has been living under a rock, something called the “Super Six” is set to begin this Saturday night. It can’t get here soon enough. While there is always rich argument to be had about just which of boxing’s seventeen weight divisions is the best, what is happening at Super Middleweight will allow it a special place in the argument…especially if the thing can hold together as intended. I definitely think Ward should be over Dirrell. Wards win over Miranda alone is probably better than anything Dirrell has done.

But other than that, I agree with everything.

Ward is over Dirrell for now. I don't think you can argue otherwise. If Dirrell beats Froch on Saturday he's Top 5 easily.

As of right now, Dirrell has more talent, Ward has better fundementals.

I can contest that the Dirrell's 4 round TKO of a Hanshaw that was only beaten by a bigger RJ at 175 and still went 12, being more impressive than going 12 with Miranda.

It doesnt matter anyway buddy as they will all be fighting each other in the near future anyway so the speculation can make way for hard facts !!!!!!!

Two respected writers and none of you can spell the name of the WBO champion?

            It´s Stieglitz not Steiglitz.

Its all speculation, but at this point I think Ward deserves to be rated above Dirrell. I see some are of the opinion that Dirrell will turn out to be the better of the two, that surprises me.

Abraham should have been in the top 5. I cannot understand how Cliff and Jake can keep him out of the top 10 entirely. Pretty big omission.

But a good read still. Nice to have the take from those 2 knowledgeable guys although the opening line from the no.2 guy always is: I agree 100% with Jake/Cliff....

Cosign. I really wish they woulda made the tourney a standard 8 man wit all titlists involved. Super 6 is gr8, but it ties things up for a while, and there's only a chance of 2 belts endin up unified.
