  • Comments Thread For: Tevin Farmer knows he is the Shakur Stevenson test for William Zepeda

Lightweight Tevin Farmer knows the game all too well. As a tricky southpaw, he's become a measuring stick for promoters trying to gauge how their fighters might fare against WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson. Farmer, with his slick defensive style and southpaw stance, sees the pattern, and he's ready to prove that he's more than just a test for the next big name.

I can see the pressure Farmer has to perform, as his future in boxing may depend on this performance.

The problem is; Farmer is more aggressive and trukulent than Stevenson. More Mexican than Ryan.

Farmer is tarmac waiting to be rolled by Zepeda.

Zepeda doesn't want to fight Shakur. He knows he will lose, look really bad and his value to Golden Boy will go up in smoke. Zepeda was lined up as WBC mandatory to face Shakur next, but opted not to because he was supposedly getting married. Now magically, he's not getting married and he's available to fight a journeyman with zero power and diminishing skills. Anyone with two eyes can see what's going on. José Ramirez did the same thing when a few tough fights at 140 were offered to him.

I thought Zepeda was getting married and wasn't available for Shakur. Did he call his wedding off when they offered Farmer?

I think he was having a new born. If he had fought Shakur the fight would have been cancel due to Shakur's brittle hands.

I was under the impression that the October date was the issue due to Zepeda's kid being born and Turki wanted Shakur for Riyadh date. I might be mistaken though.....

He's been fighting with brittle hands for awhile now. They didn't prevent him from smacking Oscar Valdez. He would have smacked Zepeda too.

What makes you think I'd pick Zepeda to win against Stevenson? Are you comparing Farmer to Shakur?
