"I have a tattoo of Winky on my arm; I have the names of all my children on my arm.” This guy is such a savage, and yet, you know he said it with the utmost humility and respect.

This was a really good article. It would be nice to see more like these about fighters that some of us remember and some can learn about.

I remember when the car accident derailed his career. Too bad because he would had been in the middle of some big fights.

Terribly sad that a young family was wiped out from that accident.

As for Simon, I remember when his fight against Winky Wright happened, I think it was on HBO. I don't remember the details of the fight itself but I recall the general consensus was that Winky won the fight (they even changed the result after Winky left the ring).

Underestimated by some , never a marquee name but a great fighter . Beat a mate of mine at the time , Wayne Alexander who hit like Popeye and hit him like Popeye but then got stopped.

While this is a sad story, let’s keep one thing in perspective - Winky vs Simon was declared a majority draw after the fight. Winky then goes to the dressing room and he’s told that the judges made a “mistake” with their counting so the result is now a split decision loss for him.
Winky was the foreigner in South Africa. Winky won the fight. Winky got robbed.

Yeah never fought he beat Winky wright. I had Winky winning the fight by a couple rounds but he was in South Africa in Simon's backyard.. even announced it was a draw but then changed it after Winky left the ring.

No real contrition in his words. It is all about what he went through.
