Wow , this guy has really been through a lot. Having his father murdered is enough grief to last ten lifetimes , now,his girlfriend is kidnapped and detained in a Russian prison , for making a donation to a charity . What a freaking nightmare.
People who support ***** , this is what you support . A thug holding a country hostage.
Best of luck to Mr. Van Heerden in getting his girlfriend released and in dealing with the death of his father.
But then with all the merry gun going around in Russia why would anyone go over there after betting against *****? It treason!!!
I remember seeing Karelina's arrest on the news when it occurred, Russian-born, naturalized US citizen ballerina arrested for $50 donation to a Ukrainian charity. Had no idea she was Can Heerden's girlfriend.
Incredibly sad and I hope that she can gain freedom soon.
"Can Heerden" may be the most unfortunate typo of the year.
there is a lot of injustice in the world and that has been going on for a very long time, to be fortunate to not get caught in the switches is no small matter.................
if you turn your back on your country and support the enemy you should leave for good, you do the crime you do the time .
I believe the $50 donation was to a charity group assisting victims of the war as opposed to supporting the war cause.
Regardless, by your logic every Russian who lived outside of Russia and paid taxes to foreign governments supporting Ukraine would also be committing the same "crime".
The United States would have alot of people to lock up themselves. Thankfully that is not how logic is applied here in this instance.
I do agree that it was a mistake to travel back to her homeland, the government is looking for any reason to arrest foreign citizens to use as leverage in dealings.
