He's not even been 'given' a chance he earned it outright beating tough opponents in the run up to receiving and defending his title. Everyone lost their damn minds over his two defeats. His face was caved in on one side against Joyce (did he even go down?) and Usyk is one of the greatest ever. A freaky injury mid fight and a GOAT I don't know why everyone thought he was useless.

      Agreed.

In the olden days, a loss was part of a boxer's seasoning.

Today, some of the best MMA fighters use their losses to learn from, and looking at some of the best heavyweights produced in MMA, the losses abound:

      1. Fedor Emelianenko 40-7-0. RUS.
      2. Francis Ngannou. 17-3-0. CAM.
      3. Stipe Miocic. 20-4-0. US
      4. Antonio Robrigo Nogueira. 34-10-1. BRZ
      5. Cain Velasquez. 14-3-0. US
      6. Fabricio Werdum. 24-9-1. BRZ
      7. Jon Jones. 27-1-0. US
      8. Junior Dos Santos. 21-10-0. BRZ
      9. Randy Couture. 19-11-0. US
      10. Josh Barnett. 35-8-0. US
      11. Tim Sylvia. 31-10-0. US
      12. Vitor Belfort. 26-14-1 BRZ
      13. Alistair Overeem. 47-19-0. NET
      14. Royce Gracie. 15-2-3. BRZ
      15. Ken Shamrock. 28-17-2. US
      16. Mirko Filipovic. 38-11-2. CRO
      17. Dan Severn. 101-19-7. US
      18. Bas Rutten 28-4-1. NET
      19. Daniel Cormier 22-3-0. US
      20. Frank Mir. 19-13-0. US

Losses started becoming a big deal in the social media era and it (social media) giving ret@rds the illusion of a "valid" opinion didn't help.

Add to that Mayweather arguably the biggest draw of all time nursing his 0 didn't help the situation.

Cro Cop, Bas, Fedor, Cormier, Gracie and Jones are about the only decent fighters on that list not only that most of the biggest names were established in the PRIDE days when the sport was completely different.

And what would be an illegal move now was fair game then e.g. headbutts, soccer kicks, stomps, and knees to head of grounded opponents and up kicks from a grounded opponent.

This made not only the fights a lot more entertaining but a lot more risky should you end up grounded.

And of course you could have guys fighting guys multiple divisions higher or lower than themselves and multiple times in one night so losses are expected.

The rest are juice heads and cans who were over hyped and in their desperation to establish a meaningful HW division they allowed Belfort to be juiced to the gills and blind a man and many more like him (Jones for one) in the hopes it would be a blue ribbon division like boxing.

But MMA in general is more nuanced but the HW division just devolved into big lumps laying on each others for the whole fight or embarrassments like Ngannou vs Lewis which isn't interesting to watch.
