  • 41 year old Anthony Joshua vs 27 year old Wladimir Klitschko

Joshua got highly rated for getting up off the canvas to stop a geriatric 41 year old wladimir klitschko.

I think he got too much credit for this and we are beggining to see it.

Can you imagine the roles reversed, seeing that Joshua is nearly shot at only 34 years old, picture him 7 years older at 41 and having to face a prime 27 year old wlad.

Does it last 11 rounds? does 41 year old joshua get a knockdown on wlad?

Wlad in his prime beats all the current crop imo

his weakness was his chin at times but he did take some good hits from Haye but he was a really good boxer with a good punch

you have to understand, there is a reason why fighters like wilder ducked wlad (remember the baby comment)

I actually think the wlad that fought David Haye would beat even fury imo and aj every time

I actually think a prime David Haye would beat everyone too as he was very very athletic and strong

Once again for anyone that is having illusions about it boxing is business and not sport.

They are both made for each other, their mental weakness and lack of chin. They both fold when met with adversity.

I'm not sure what this comparison is trying to prove? Does it make any kind of statement?

No idea what Joshua will be like at 41. They're very different guys and some last into those years, the vast majority don't. He might? Who knows. Wlad was a bit of a physical freak in that regard. Why would we compare fighters at 41? Does the fact that 41 year old Wlad would have beaten 41 year old Ali mean anything? Of course it doesn't.

So that's not particularly a fair comparison.

It's probably also unfair to compare them both at 27. Wlad had vastly more fights but had been stopped a couple of times with another TKO looming the following year. Joshua was far less experienced but only one guy had come close to putting a dent in him (Whyte) and he got knocked clean out.

You could try to compare them both in their 19th fight,? Joshua became a unified champion in front of 90,000 while Wlad was fighting Cody Koch in a music venue.

(BTW if you've never heard of Cody Koch you should Google him - he was killed a couple of months later... before investigators started suffering injuries and got pulled off the case against his killers!).

Joshua might learn the sweet science keep chin tucked, don't lead with uppercuts, keep hands high, don't go back in straight line with chin in air then Josh might be better at 40 then he is at 34.

wlad did very well to keep going and competitive until that age & he gave AJ all he could handle on that night, wlad took a lot of stick in his career too, probably more than AJ overall, wlad used to get killed on here for years

Before the Dubois fight, the tv crew were hyping Joshua's record at Wembley:

                - Klitschko
                -Povetkin
                -Pulev

                notice a pattern? lol

I'm not sure about the answer to your question, but one thing about them two, they're very similar overall. Genetic freaks (well, I'm pretty sure juice helped) and had really good power. Yet their chin were always their Achilles heel.

I think if anything, it proves how much smarter Wlad was as a fighter. He knew his chin was his downfall and he tweaked his style a tad to be more defensive and not engage recklessly. AJ on the other hand seems to enjoy going to war, even if he knows he just might get KO'd in the process. This is probably why Wlad's career extended into his early 40s as champ. I'm not sure I can see AJ doing the same thing with his current style and lack of defense.

Age and wear take their toll, and the stamina, power, and resilience of a younger fighter are hard to overcome. It’s unlikely a 41-year-old Joshua would last 11 rounds or score a knockdown against a prime Klitschko, as younger fighters typically have the advantage in speed and endurance against older opponents.
