Don Charles called him out in his post fight interview with Radio Raheem. It's 23 minutes in if you're interested.
I think Ben's alright, he's a young guy trying to learn and he's done ok with some of his fighters but he falls into the same category of a lot of new age "trainers" and try to be smarter than they are, talking in circles for extended periods of time without actually saying anything at all of any actual substance. Essentially just talking in circles, sounds clever to the untrained eye but doesn't wash with anyone who actually knows the subject they're talking about.
Similar to Russell Brand when he talks politics, or Jordan Peterson when he talks about...Anything.
There's some idiots on here who do the same thing. It's genuinely very cringe worthy.tonysoprano likes this.

On Davison, it's easy to speak from the outside, not a given McGuigan or Charles would've got it right in Joshua's corner, we've seen their fighters lose plenty of times.

I don't think I've ever actually hard Russel Brand make a point, not even a good or bad just, just an actual point at all. I've heard him sound clever with what I'm sure is hours of studying a thesaurus so he can say big words that I'm not entirely sure he himself knows what they mean whilst vomiting a word salad.
Jordan Peterson can make a good point or two if you are willing to listen to him talk in circles for 45 minutes before he gets to it, that's if he even does.
Either way it's the same premise with Ben, a lot of words, not so much substance, for the most part.

I'd love to talk politics but boxingscene does not like it any more. I will say I liked Brand's videos on Bill Gates' shenanigans in India and Peterson's good when he talks about the psychology of tyrants. They're both overly verbose though, I agree.

Never rated him or understood why he is such a popular choice among fighters. Every fighter who has joined his stable has suddenly looked **** or totally shot - BJS, Fury, Josh Taylor, AJ - FOUR of the most talented fighters in the Country. Even Leigh Wood he has looked awful though his power has practically bailed him out and kept the Ben hype alive.
I think he is the most overrated trainer in boxing and Shane funnily enough the most underrated. Ben just loves the sound of his own voice and cameras way too much.
Really not a fan of his negative style either.

As for Saunders, I believe Davison has only been his head trainer for 1 or 2 fights, and one of them he come in about weeks before, in the Akavov fight. So I don't think there's much to go off with him and BJS.
What I will say is Saunders never uses Davison has his head trainer for his biggest fights. He brought him into his corner on fight week of Canelo but didn't have him in camp, same for other fights. Maybe that tells you Saunders doesn't rate him highly enough for the big ones. Say what you want about Bill, he is smart when it comes to boxing and he opted not to use his good mate for the biggest fights.
I think Davison is okay , I think he has pretty good boxing knowledge in some aspects but to echo others, I think he tries to overcomplicate everything. Sometimes in a fight you just need to take a simple approach and get through a situation.
It's like too many young footy managers now try to be too much of a Pep Guardiola. But the beauty of Guardiola is he knows how to simplify when he has to. The others try to be clever for the sake of being clever, that's Davison.
