If Barry was Eddy he would say AJ is in his prime. This fight is a good intro for the geezer wars. Quit now? AJ was always well matched, well match him some more. Gate keeping isn't so bad.

He could retire but I don't think he needs to. With Turki keen to keep these guys in meaningful fights irrespective of a loss, Joshua can fit right back in to the mix with guys like Hrgovic, Zhang and Parker. He doesn't need to 'rebuild' again, he just needs a different match-up.
I wouldn't recommend he rematch Dubois though. Styles make fights and stylistically Dubois is all wrong for him. I wouldn't give Joshua any more than a puncher's chance in a rematch.Comment

Joshua was out jabbed , out boxed and out punched , it wasn't a good fight as people claimed it was too one sided . A rematch is typical Hearn and Joshua but should not be allowed to happen . I wouldn't want to see another total mauling , there's much , much better fights out there . Danny should just laugh at a Joshua rematch and head into an undisputed with either Fury or Usyk but then I suppose these robbing idiots would demand stand aside money .....ridiculous! They are finished , fish eyes holds all the cards .Comment

He could keep fighting but I don't see him reaching the top again. He certainly doesn't have any need to keep fighting and expose himself to the dangers of the ring . If you're not going to be on top again , and you don't need the money , I don't see the point in continuing. He's not all of a sudden get a better chin or great defense. He's 35 , not 25. I'd advise him to hang up the gloves and go have some fun.Comment

The way the whole boxing world reacts to losses is comical.
On one hand, you have fighters getting ridiculed for being undefeated. On the other hand, you have fighters with 10+ losses that fans and the boxing world praise.
But then you have some top guys that supposedly have to retire basically because they’re not undefeated.
AJ not having punch resistance has been known for years, even in his prime. McGuigan is talking out his ass.Comment

How old was Frazier when he first fought Foreman? Just shy of 29. How about when he fought Foreman the second time? He was 32. He quit for 5 years before returning for one last fight against Jumbo Cummings. Frazier also did not make anywhere near the money that Joshua has. It's not about saying someone should retire after a loss. It's all the intangibles. Joshua is rich, almost 35 years old, and has had a pretty good career, considering all of his weaknesses. What exactly does he have to prove by continuing? Can he catch Dubois with a hard shot and take him out? Of course but it's more likely that he gets knocked out again. Ending your career with a K.O loss is nothing to be ashamed of. At the end of the day, it's his decision.Comment
