Remember that the IBF only made Errol Spence Jr defend his belt ONE time in four years. Then stripped Bud within 4 months because Spence activated the rematch clause that he didn't even end up using. They follow the rules only when they want to, and recently, a lot of the decisions have been flat ******.

Which doesn't excuse the other organizations for their ******ity and refusal to follow the rules. But still, they should take flak, especially when they are having a title fight between two guys who already lost to the real champ. It would help if their rankings weren't the worst of all the organizations too.

"A belt that rightly belongs to Canelo". You have to be dense or on the payroll to say such nonsense. The situations with Benavidez and the WBC and Morrell and the WBA show that Canelo will only fight his mandatory challengers if they suit him (Ryder, Berlanga). They were not even mandatories, Canelo wanted to fight them regardless.
The IBF did the the right thing by stripping him of his title. Basically, this writer, as far as Canelo, is knocking the IBF for enforcing the rules of boxing, while letting of the hook completely arguably the two worst boxing organizations.

Another poor article. The quality of writing has gone downhill since the restructuring.

I must say, I was waiting for someone to write this article because every time someone got undisputed, two minutes later IBF would strip them and email the belt to an undeserving paper champion. Usyk, Crawford, Canelo are the latest victims. Yes, I know all the other organisations are just as bad, but this consistency in stripping the undisputed champions as soon as they won all the belts in the ring and then giving the belt to another fighter via email was really grinding my gears.

Actually the IBF is doing it's job and the other organizations are letting titlists sit on belts, hold them hostage, avoid mandatories indefinitely, and making the ranking system a moot point

            What a ridiculous article.

For those that didnt read it, here is the summary: Whatever fight makes the most money gets the belt.

Honestly the belts mean nothing because of all the BS that the orgs pull. Being a world champion in this era basically means next to nothing.

We all can see with our eyes who the best fighters are, and we can see that they don't fight each other much because of belt silliness, promoters protecting their guys, guys unwilling to fight real risks.

The best fights are now happening on Probox, a youtube site and an app for free. LOL. Many fans are fed up with the hypejobs and "best fighters", and they just want great matchups and great fights with guys who want to KO the other guy.

The sport is changing and that is good, because the current model is near dead and eating itself.

this article is very s t u p i d. instead of criticizing and mocking boxers for being unknown, do some BASIC research (like for example LOOKING at rankings once a month, it isn't hard). it's NOT enough to just follow big cards on espn, dazn and pbc shows. if you are a writer, you need to know better than hardcore fans and not be on the level of casuals.

we wouldn't have these problems if champions were active. this 0-2 fights per year practice is atrocious. if a champion is that inactive, he should only fight mandatories. if he doesn't want to, especially unified champions, just vacate or be swiftly stripped. i wish all 4 bodies would strip champions more regularly for their inactivity and ducking of mandatories. "he just won the belt 4-8 months ago". it isn't "just". a champion should have a fight scheduled 4+ months after his last fight if he isn't injured.

                1. case usyk:
usyk won 3 belts as a wbo mandatory in september 2021, 3 years ago. he fought only 3 times since then. absolutely unacceptable for a champion. while holding 3 belts he fought voluntary defense (joshua), wba mandatory defense (dubois and last mandatory fight was 5 YEARS prior!) and another voluntary defense (fury). usyk then scheduled another voluntary after that (fury) knowing that ibf's last mandatory fight was 4 years ago and wbo last mandatory fight (the way he personally got it) was 3 years ago. this is abysmal. so waiting 3, 4 and 5 years for a mandatory fight is not enough for you, you want them bodies to prolong them even more and not strip? wbo should have stripped him too! better yet, i wanted him to vacate all but the wba belt since he fulfilled their obligation last and not to let charr become a legit champion by default (which seems to be what charr is waiting for). like the article mentioned, usyk and canelo don't need belts anymore but other boxers would appreciate them.

having said that, i have a problem with dubois. why is he treated like canelo, the biggest star (better than even joshua)? dubois was wbo #2 when usyk was #1 when he lost to joyce (basically the fight for the next wbo mandatory). 2 fights later he's the wba mandatory. then he lost to usyk. 2 fights later he's the ibf mandatory! and dubois gets his shots immediatelly after gaining his position while EVERYBODY else has to wait for years! talk about being enabled/privileged.

                2. case canelo:
we wrote about his case extensively. basically 3 mandatories waited for 2+ years (benavidez, morrell and scull, all legit mandatories through eliminators) but canelo fought ryder who was a wbo mandatory for like 6 months, munguia (another guy who just became wbo #1) and voluntary defenses for 4,5 years while holding 4 belts. he should have been stripped of 3 belts in 2023 at the latest. ibf was too lenient to strip him recently.

                3. case ennis:
crowley was his mandatory (and universal top5 in the division) and the fight was agreed but cody then backed out. ekow essuman was next best ranked but scarrf defeated him. since their last mandatory fight was in 2018, ibf ordered a final eliminator. the problem is only scarrf and karen wanted to fight that eliminator. blame so called better fighters for not taking this opportunity. don't blame scarrf and karen! i was rooting for harry because i didn't want ennis - karen 2 but here we are. blame hearn for being cheap with norman. hearn didn't want to lose a little more money but now it's even worse. ennis will get much lower purse, waste time and get some flak for fighting karen again.

You have only Ennis to blame. He chose this IBF route when he knew he's not going to get the Spence fight. His late manager was told by Espinoza pointblank that Ennis will never going to get the Spence fight in any shape or form. IBF emailed his belt probably out of sympathy. And now Jaron wants to get out? This is his ABC home.
