  • Comments Thread For: Josh Kelly and the threat of a short-notice opponent

Josh Kelly likes to feel settled. He is not alone in wanting this feeling, of course, but on account of his career choice, finding this feeling is for Kelly more difficult than it is for most. In boxing, after all, the feeling of being surprised or even upended comes with the territory. It is why so many watch two people throw punches and fight. It is also why a fight, where everything is so wonderfully unsettled, remains such a compelling and unpredictable spectacle until the ring clears.

Hope Josh Kelly settles down mentally because he's #2 in the WBO, people are going to come knocking on his door very soon.

David Avanesyan has already knocked - hard - on Kelly's head. That, for me, indicates where Josh's ceiling is.

Boxing News's Graham Houston picked Davis to win, incidentally.

I wonder if? On another boxing show 'Josh Kelly vs Liam Smith will happen again. I think it was a good fight, which both fighters could use as a impetus for the next stage of their careers'.

Liam Smith although he is a former World Champion, and a proven solid top level fighter 'At least at 154 pounds'. Smith has never been a fighter, that other boxers are aiming to fight.

Smith is a interesting character, the most intriguing out of all the Smith brothers in my opinion 'Mainly due to the fights he has been involved in, and how he most of the time he always adds a personal element the competition'.

Liam Smith seems very honest when it comes to competition 'Many boxers, always state? That fighting is nothing personal, it is just business'.

But I completely disagree in this notion, with the most competitive fighters whether they want to admit it or not in front of camera's 'It is always personal'.

Note: Professional boxers have a legal license to do server and some very brutal things to their opponent's 'No other man on the street, has that type of legal permission within the framework of a sophisticated society. Therefore I appreciate boxers who are honest to the point where they acknowledge, that there is always a personal elements in the competition even when there is respect between the two fighters'.

The dynamic between Josh Kelly and Liam Smith, was actually more intriguing than Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois 'The media when it comes to Joshua vs Dubois, are just trying their upmost best to promote a product. Mainly by embellishing Daniel Dubois abilities, and giving him attributes that he has never shown before in his career to a high level'.

People who have analyse boxing for many years, and have experience situations and sequences enough times 'Know that if Anthony Joshua executes his game, and utilizes all of his power than Daniel Dubois does not win a single minute in their fight'.

To conclude: Kelly vs Smith was different, and I believe as a fight 'It had the most unknown quan****** in terms of the action'.

I think Liam Smith should maybe still pursue this fight, or definitively consider the match up as one of his future fights 'If Josh Kelly wins in solid fashion on 21st September 2024. Then this will only make their fight a bigger boxing event, and it will be more a legitimate fight. Because Josh Kelly would of proven his recent form more, against a solid opponent in Ishmael Davis' etc.
