I saw him fight at Foxwoods. I was actually there to see big Lou Savarese but Mesi did seem to have some skills for his size.

Ah, Big Lou! I'm guessing that was the David Bostice fight (I looked at BoxRec). Never forget when Lou beat Lance "Mount" Whitaker although he may have been his alias "Goofi" at that time...anyway, Whitaker had just beat one of my favorite fighters from back in the day, Alex "The Destroyer" Stewart.
