One thing you might find a bit peculiar about the Canelo-Munguia bout is the last minute of the fight. At around 58 seconds left for the fight to end, Canelo hurts Munguia and appears to hold him up instead of going for the kill and says a few words in Munguia's ear. Check that last minute out when you have time, I'd be curious to hear what you might think.

I remember that and quite honestly I don't know what was in Canelo's mind if he was thinking of taking it easy to make it easier for himself or to help Mungia in some way at the end. The only thing I am sure of is that Canelo did not press the action as hard as he could have toward the end of the fight. The anti-Canelo folks will say that Canelo did not go for the knockout because he was gassed at that point and does not have the power these days to knock out bigger guys. As to what he said to Mungia at that time, my guess is that he complimented him on a good fight. Thanks for asking.

There is plenty of fighters with size and weight disadvantages who make up for it with timing, speed and accuracy which Canelo has.

He's just not being effective against people who he isn't fighting with stipulations or last minute notice, that's the reality of the situation but feel free to live in delulu land.

And if you believe that power or height/weight is the problem how do guys like Usyk can overcome 12 inch reach advantages and 50+ pounds in arguably the most dangerous division in the sport.

Or Pacquiao another example who's 5'5 and 67" reach in a division were people are 5'9 and 71" reach averagely and lord knows how much weight he gave away.

And then there is strange outliers with orangutan arms like Boots 5'9/10 with 74/5" reach or Fury with his 85" reach and he's only 6'7.

The punch stats show Canelo is landing a huge number of power punches - as I said.

Not all fighters carry their power up with them. Did you watch the Benavidez fight when he moved up? He looked average against an old guy who barely looked like he was trying

Usyk wasn't the only example simpleton, Pacquiao was also an example and i could've listed others like Loma, Povetkin so on and so forth.

Small guys who were beating guys with significant size,reach and weight advantages but why would I waste my time listing a bunch of guys and certainly not now you've proven yourself to be incapable of thinking critically and how much of a waste of time it would've ultimately been.

Benavidez is average anyway, he's just fighting in a weak division and moved up to a more competitive division and showed his actual level when he isn't being a huge weight bully.

Loma was also worse when he went up in weight. His invincible aura basically fell apart at that point. I remember the Campbell fight. Loma suddenly didn't look very good.

and he's only kayoed/"stopped" 5 people in the last 16 fights and surprise surprise, all the stoppages are against people like Kovalev with you guessed it "stipulations, last minute notice or some other form of tomfoolery".

He used to throw in combination a lot more now he's a lot more choosy with his punches and that's allowing people to not only hit him more but not worry about the power as much

His output is fast approaching Zhang level and that's saying a lot given Zhang is in a division were hardly any punches are thrown and he's the lowest output fighter and Canelo in his early 30s and half his size...

He doesn't look small by any stretch of the imagination, he looks short but small he most certainly is not.
