Canelo hasn't stopped a decent boxer since Saunders arguably Kovalev who wasn't even using his vaunted jab the way we come to expect of him and Saunders didn't look the same fighter at all at 68.
He has to claim he's carrying people because otherwise it's going to expose how ineffective he is against less than stellar opposition.
Or without *** like Callum Smith on a few weeks notice, Kovalev same again, Khan with a 30 pound weight advantage and brought up in weight, hydration clauses so on and so forth.Last edited by Boro; 09-19-2024, 07:10 AM.

Canelo did carry him. The only time Canelo got aggressive is when Munguia connected. It was like when you spar, the other guy hits you and you get serious so they know their place when they get too brave. Munguia was there to get hit and hit good.

If Berlanga met against Munguia I heavily had Jamie like a favorite, now not so much.Last edited by STREET CLEANER; 09-19-2024, 11:46 AM.

It doesn't just mean he stops less people - it also means his opponents can attack him more and take more risks to land punches on him

He's just not being effective against people who he isn't fighting with stipulations or last minute notice, that's the reality of the situation but feel free to live in delulu land.
And if you believe that power or height/weight is the problem how do guys like Usyk can overcome 12 inch reach advantages and 50+ pounds in arguably the most dangerous division in the sport.
Or Pacquiao another example who's 5'5 and 67" reach in a division were people are 5'9 and 71" reach averagely and lord knows how much weight he gave away.
And then there is strange outliers with orangutan arms like Boots 5'9/10 with 74/5" reach or Fury with his 85" reach and he's only 6'7.Last edited by Boro; 09-19-2024, 08:14 AM.

“I could have finished the fight but I took my time,” said the 33 year old. “That’s why there’s 12 rounds to see who’s the best. I took my time and I don’t want to make mistakes, so I did what I was supposed to do to win. Munguia’s a strong fighter; you need to be careful with that. I just take my time"
This is a widely quoted quote from him and part of a bigger interview
