Comments Thread For: The Canelo-Berlanga PPV running diary

I haven't written a pay-per-view running diary in about 13 or 14 years, since I was filing weekly online columns for The Ring, but the Saul "Canelo" Alvarez-Edgar Berlanga pay-per-view, plus the Prime Video preshow -- seven fights spread across some 6 1/2 hours -- presented a fine opportunity to get the gang back together and give the running diary another shot.

Raskin, who I have been a fan of since the days of the HBO Boxing Podcast, is a really good writer. He is a fan at heart, and brings some fun into it. You do not need to agree with a word of what he is saying to enjoy him, and that is rare. I am so glad Boxing Scene brought him on.

I am with lefty0616 in the first post.... more of this please.

Fantastic article, I hope you write these more often, both for the sake of your (lack of) friends and our entertainment.

Great fight last night and cong**** Canelo but the sport needs to go forward. Let's be honest there is nothing else for Canelo to do at 168. We forced Ward to move from 168 to 175 because there was nothing else for him to prove at that weight. We forced Bud to move from 147 because of the same reason. Devin had to leave 135 and The lil monster from Japan had to move out of 118. Now it is time for Canelo to do the same. Time for him to leave and go chase greatness (just like Ward) at LHW. He should drop all the belts and let the next generation fight it out. Plant, Berlanga, Milbilli, Andrade, Munguia, Jermall and the rest should all fight each other now because the Canelo lottery at 168 is finally over. Benevidez and Morrell have already moved up. My hope is that Beterbiev gets a sensational KO over Bivol to win undisputed. Because if Bivol wins then it's him vs Canelo for undisputed and that ain't fair. Benevidez and Morrell were held hostage at 168 by Canelo and they should get a fair shot at the belts in a new division. Hopefully Beterbiev, who turns 40 in January, will drop all the belts and move on with his life. 2025 can be the start of a new race to undisputed in every class from 135-175 with no more undisputed champs left. LETS GO BOXING! WAR PBC WAR TR WAR GBP!!!!!

It will be fun to see Canelo, Bivol, Benevidez, Morrell and possibly Ben Whittaker all start from the bottom and work themselves up with no help!
