So not only was Cheap Eddie unable to deliver a unification fight because they were about 500K off for Norman, they can't even keep the title for Ennis, who apparently is content to go back to being a contender and keep pretending to chase after Bud at 154. You think Ennis is happy about signing with Matchroom right about now, when they won't even outbid Karen Chukadzian's promoter?
You are reading this situation all wrong. First off .. Hearn has revealed that Norman was offered $1.75 million to fight Ennis, almost exactly the same amount that Boots would have received. If Norman was asking for 500k more than that, he was either deliberately pricing himself out, or he needs his head examining.

Secondly, Matchroom didn't lose that purse bid, they threw it. Think about it ... Boots has already beaten Chukadzian by wide UD. Nobody would be interested in paying to see him do it again. So why would Hearn be interested in picking up the tab for a fight that would certainly lose money, to defend a belt that Boots doesn't need any more?

Poor Boots, destined to be a contender his entire career.

How is it PBC’s fault in any way?

TR is gonna have Norman milk his title while he waits for Teofimo to move up.

I thought they made TR an offer for Norman that got turned down. Maybe I am wrong .

I don’t think you can blame TR or PBC for this. Hearn didn’t bid enough. That is his shortcoming.

I'm not discussing MR losing the bid for Ennis/Chukhadzhian, but all the drama that led to Ennis/Chuk becoming a possibility. Whether MR won or lost the bid doesn't change the fact that I couldn't care less about this rematch. Instead of Ennis/Norman/Stanionis/Barrios, we're getting Ennis/Chuk, Norman/Cuevas, Stanionis/TBA, and Barrios/Pacquiao or TBA. Boxing is a mess because the obvious matchups don't happen. MR should throw that $1.75M purse at a 154lb contender and see if they bite: Bohachuk, Baraou, Butaev, Conwell, Madrimov, etc. Fortunately, not every fighter is spoiled and entitled.
