I don't remember Ellerbe ever mentioning Danny Garcia's name, now all of a sudden Danny can get into the HOF, if he defeats Lara.

Overrated as all get out! Best win was khan, the rest of his career is wins that shouldn’t have been and losses in stepping up.

The only fighters who have beaten Danny, are Errol Spence, and Mauricio Herrera both won by decision.
I'm rooting for Danny, not only to beat Erislandy Lara, but for him to knock him out (flat out), take his title, and then defend it against Terrance Crawford.
Garcia ain’t fighting anyone with decent legs, hence the Lara fight.

I enjoy watching Danny fight, but hall of fame is a stretch for Garcia's career. He beat a terribly faded, older Morales who was far removed from his best weight class. He beat a glass chinned Khan who aside from being popular himself, didn't exactly do great beyond putting up some fun fights. Yeah, his best win was beating Matthysse, but beating Matthysse doesn't quite get you to the HOF either... The rest of his wins were mostly B- , C level fighters. When he stepped up against the top of the division of his generation, he lost all those fights.

Beating a 41yr old Lara at this point does not also make you HOF worthy. Maybe if he did it when Lara was in his own prime which meant a lot more movement and annoying fighters. I expect Garcia to have more of a chance against this Lara who sits down on his punches more. It gives Garcia a chance to land his own. This isn't how prime Lara fought though.

They ought to just close the Hall Of Fame down , and start over. The standards are already compromised , might as well let Danny in and everyone else with a recognizable name . That's what it feels like they have been doing the past few years. There have been some legitimate fighters put in , but some that I don't believe belong. That's the problem when things are subjective , peoples views will vary.

Those are the two biggest victories of his career. At 147, he hardly took any risks outside of the ring.

When he did; He always lost. He was just content on taking on the least amount of risk for the most amount of money.

That’s hardly my definition of a HOF fighter. My definition of a HOF is someone who fought the best and defeated the best.

However and unfortunately, Danny “Swift” Garcia did not do that.

                  This!
And, also, a part of the issue is that each year we get 3 new fighters going in when there are not always going to be 3 stand out fighter'son the ballot - the HOF should spend more time redressing the oversights from previous decades - such as Nigel Benn, Chris Eubanks senior and Stevie Collins to name but three. Benn beat Gerald McClellan to name but just a few and imo the level that McClellan was at was far higher than either Khan or Matthyse. And Benn can't even get on the ballot.

I disagree. Danny Garcia had a very low punch volume and work rate against Shawn Porter. Where as, Shawn Porter had a very high punch volume and work rate against him.

Danny just didn’t throw enough punches and had trouble letting his hands go in that fight. Which was the difference in their fight.

Simply put; Shawn Porter out worked Danny Garcia in that fight and got his punches off first. Which was the reason why he won the fight.
