I agree. I believe that Danny Garcia would have had more knockouts on his record if only he’d thrown more punches by letting his hands go more.

He jumped the shark after that Amir Khan TKO victory. Once he landed that no look left hook counter that dropped him. He has not been the same fighter since.

He has been looking for that same punch every fight and has been unsuccessful in landing it.

In other words he went from being your typical boxer/puncher to a boxer/counterpuncher.

      Bingo and exactly! Nice post!

Couldn’t agree more. I’m sure Lara was very happy when he heard Garcia was next. I’m talking from a fan’s perspective, and the top ten guys in the division. There is just no way Danny deserves this fight. It’s just one of the many things wrong with this sport.

KO'd a super aged Morales who obviously wasn't in his premier weight class at that time either. Then he goes on to some mediocre wins and comes up short when he faced the top level competition of his generation (Spence, Porter, Thurman). Yet his status remains relevant with just about anyone he faces. He's not some super unique type of fighter. Just durable, strong and usually stays busy in the ring.

I wish he fought more often after getting his massive paychecks against the top level fighters, but clearly if you follow any of his socials, he's living the life and dabbing in other areas. Boxing is not quite on his mind as much as it used to be, but he's mostly been an entertaining fighter to watch.

This fight will solidify where his head is at and if boxing will still be part of his life or just an after thought. Although Lara is in his 40s, he's been looking like early 30s lately. Danny can't sleep on Lara and we'll know quickly whether this new weight helps Danny whose also aged, or shows, he's not as effective at the higher weights than when he was winning at 140lbs -147lbs.
          i agree

Actually, Matthysse, 14 months later, was Danny’s career high point. After that he lost every meaningful fight he co-starred in. I still think Garcia was a smart boxer; his losses just came against fighters who were simply better. I don’t care what your game plan is, if you’re in over your head, you’re gonna lose.

I agree. Many boxing fans overrate Danny Garcia and I will never know the reason why. I never thought he was that good to begin with.

If he was then he would have never ducked fights with both Floyd Mayweather, Jr, Manny Pacquiao and “Bud” Terence Crawford for less pay against lesser opponents.

Unfortunately, most of the wins on his resume have come against shopworn gatekeepers who were all well past their primes.

And Lara until recently fights defensive. This could also be a tactical snoozefest. I love Danny Garcia but Lara's probably getting a TKO. Don't really wanna see it.

Danny gets a lot of flack and I get it, his best days were at 140lbs where he fell in love with his power a lil too much imo but I thought he did a great job after the Spence fight taking some time off, reflecting and then getting back to the basics and I thought he looked pretty good in the win over Benavidez at 154lb

160lbs may or may not be a bridge too far for Danny vs old Lara, we'll see,, but he's always dared to be great and If he's going to keep fighting at 36 then why not dare some more...

It will be an ok fight, Lara is boxing great at this weight because the fighters are slower and he can sit down on his shots, Danny always brings it I expect an entertaining fight from two classy fighters.
