  • Stevenson hype is fake and forced.

Really desperate attempt at creating hype. There are more than a hand full of such fighters in Cuba or the East Euro countries that are not given the same media exposure.

I dont think its forced. He's a very talented fighter, and obviously wants to be a PPV star. Can't fault him for that, The problem for him though is that the buying public isnt interested in what he's selling.......

A lot of black american fighters complain that they have it harder than other fighters but look at the reality, a lot of promoters actually lose money on them and try their very best to promote them. Crawford too, I believe Arum when he said he lost money on crawford, one of the more believable statements Arum made. A lot of these guys are boring and dont sell, have no personality but they want giant multi million dollar paydays, um where does the revenue come from to pay that? the promoters actually take big risks on these guys, if they were in the UFC they wouldnt be paid ****, they actually have it easy.

This has been a thing for a long time. You had bernard hopkins crying about this 20 years ago. Saying he was shorted by promoters for being a black fighter well dude you fought bums for 20 defenses, how much money do you think there was in the pot for you to fight antwon echols for the 2nd or 3rd time? amazing that when he finally stepped up fighting some big names is when he finally started getting paid more, funny how that works.

If stevenson want to get real fame and get real money he has to do more than fight some unknown bum to a boring decision.

He has not proven to be 'very talented' He is a decent outside boxer but nothing special. Mason looks to be far more talented.

              Simple as that.

Shakur has nothing that keeps you interested, no excitement.

As boxing fans, we can get into the technical aspects of the 'sport.' We're not always going to see knockouts, and we're not always expecting to see them. The problem is you get people who say "YDKSAB," "you don't understand the sweet science," or you're called a casual when criticizing someone like Shakur. "It's hit and not get hit!" THAT'S FINE AND ALL... but it's not entertaining.

We're not obligated to like him, his style, or his fights. It's BORING as absolute ****.

"Shakur Stevenson has the lowest opponent connect percentage in all of boxing"

              It's not a conspiracy theory, it's true.

Hes 27 years old already and hasnt fought anyone of note, like what are his top 3 fights at soon to be 28 years old?

I grew up in the early 2000s DLH, Trinidad and Mosley era. Go look at their records and see all the great fights they had by 27 years old. Now days they got all these guys who wait until 30 to even start their career. You look at vargas and he went and fought all these guys in his early 20s, he took the risk. everyone is afraid of taking any risks now.

Go look at Tank, stevenson, charlo brothers, boots, andrade, look at their records and see how they basically fought nobody into their late 20s and early 30s. I mean andrande went into his mid 30s without a big fight, but they want to get all the accolades and pay days that come with having an exciting and productive career, liek what the *** do these guys expect, grow some balls and make some fights.

I do believe that Stevenson is talented however there are a lot of truths in your post here when comparing to the likes of Trinidad Mosley de La Hoya and even Mayweather. I do believe that a lot of fighters have seen how Mayweather became " the villain " made hundreds of millions is people paid to see him lose and they want to capitalize on that. The problem is that they're looking at the big paydays like you said in their 20s while Mayweather de La Hoya Mosley Trinidad we're taking on some big fights and work their way up to those multi-million dollar paydays

Stevenson did fight Valdez in a good matchup but him looking to be a megafight fighter for tens of millions after that win is like if Mayweather demanded 20 million after beating Castillo. Floyd didn't get those mega money fights until he moved up and got the de La Hoya exposure. Stevenson needs to be impressive and find a high profile fight even if it doesn't get him everything he wants with the expectation that he might gain popularity just for taking and winning the fight and then things can follow afterwards if he has the personality
