Canelo couldnt finish a gunshy 40 yr old GGG. Mbili's career will be funny to watch play out. The internets will create a narrative that he has all these holes in his game, but somehow he will have a hard time getting fighters to sign on the dotted line and try to exploit them. This entire card was nothing but a showcase for the A side fighters. Mbilli was overhyped the entire night and Bradley and Tessitore had the ******ity to say that Canelo would want nothing to do with this fighter that couldn't finish off a literal one armed Chenko. Unfortunately, that is what we have had for years - showcases for the A side fighters with very few real upsets. That is why I have enjoyed the competitive cards and fights recently on offer. This entire card was nothing but a showcase for the A side fighters. Indeed, everything is full speed with Mbilli. He needs to learn how to vary his speed and his pace. That is why he was gassed a bit during the middle rounds. That being said, to his credit, he always seems to be able to finish a round strong which usually leaves a good impression on the judges.
Probably not in Canada with some of their shenanigans but I was thinking the same last night. Tessitore and Bradley didn't point it out but there were a few times when Mbilli was caught and buzzed (and I'm not talking about the right hook to his knee cap). Mbilli commits so much to his offense that there are some glaring defensive holes.
I like Mbilli but there are definitely things he needs to work on, I'm just not sure we will ever see improvement. I feel for Derevyanchenko, the guy is a warrior but he has no luck in the ring, and even worse, he has always been the B-side. A few of those Ls against top guys probably become W's if he has the promotion backing him....Comment

Indeed, though he has an engine, I never felt that at SMW, Mbilli hits THAT hard on single punch basis.
To me, him stopping Derv would have simply been an indication of Derv being completely shot.Comment

Anyone who did not watch the fight would be forgiven for thinking that Mbilli was lucky to come away with the victory based on most of the comments here. Good thing i watched it. Lets just ignore the fact that by the 7th round Andre Rozier and the Sergiy corner were contemplating stopping the fight!! Why. Simply because Sergiy was enduring the worse beat down he had ever taken and it was becoming sickening to watch. Hope he got paid good money for the assault he endured. Good mature performance from Mbilli who is still evolving as a complete fighter. Just saying.Comment

Why would he? Nothing to gain from beating up 'the technician' ,at least not after the punishment Mbilli put on him. Retirement closer than Canelos imo.Comment
