Comments Thread For: Christian Mbilli vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko: Big-Fight Preview

Christian Mbilli takes on Sergiy Derevyanchenko this Saturday, August 17, at the Centre Videotron in Quebec, Canada. Mbilli is potentially on the verge of a huge fight and victory over the seasoned Derevyanchenko will cement his position as a top challenger to super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez. Already ranked at number one by the WBC and in the top three by all four sanctioning bodies, Mbilli will likely face unified champion Alvarez or perhaps the winner of William Scull vs. Vladimir Shishkin for the vacant IBF title should he win.

Derevyanchenko often makes for exciting and grueling fights, Mbilli is all offense and even tho the Ukrainian is a bit shopworn, it is still a significant step up for the Canadian fighter. It is difficult to imagine this one being boring.

All things considered, Derevyanchenko's aging engine might take a while to get started. I would not completely exclude an early night for Mbilli (though my official pick is Mbilli late).

Tucker vs Fernandez fight on the undercard; Fernandez throws an entire second short of when the shots should be thrown and he is just not generating power with his build.

The opponents on this card, they have odd stances. Knocked kneed is what we called it growing up. Stunts athletic ability I think

Are you guys tired of Tim Bradley always saying a fictional verbal exchange "Fighter A said this...this...and that and, Fighter B said this...this...and, that" instead of calling the actual fight? Another annoying tendency is the the fighters that he is "riding" always are "downloading data".

The Charlo and Adames losses were clear. Competitive, but clear. The GGG, Jacobs and Munguia decisions could have gone either way. Mbilli should win, but it will likely be by decision something like 97-93.
