IBF orders Boots Ennis to face Karen Chukadzian... Again

Eddie Hearn says the IBF has ordered Ennis to face the new mandatory, who Boots already fought, in Karen Chukadzian. Apparently getting an eye injury lost Cody Crowley his mandatory shot.

Hearn said they'd made an order to Barrios, but made no mention of offers being sent to Brian Norman or Eimantis Stanionis. Since Barrios has his name tied to a possible bout with Manny Pacquiao, he may be waiting to see if that much more lucrative and less dangerous fight may still come to fruition, which makes it all the worse that Eddie didn't seem to think it fitting to attempt a unification fight with the other two champions who have already expressed interest in fighting Ennis.

Turki won't be funding any of these Ennis fights unless he's fighting Crawford. Hearn himself wants that fight next year and already assuming Bud would say yes to the fight. Maybe he will as long as the money is right. Even then Boots had to have a fight before the year ends and can't just wait around waiting.

You're not disappointed that it's not at least a Cody Crowley level guy? Why not make an offer for unification to Stanionis or Norman? What does Turki have to do with anything? It's pretty bogus that this is all the IBF has to offer. Then we've got the likes of William Scull at 168, and two defeated guys going at it at heavy. I'm not impressed with the IBF at all.

And that's leaving aside Ennis still sticking to his mid tier opponents. His opponents have a 62% win rate. IBF and Ennis both need to do better than regurgitating Karen Chukadzian.

That's what Ennis went after. The IBF route when he knew he's never going to get the Spence shot 2 years ago. He was also first in line with WBO at that time and had more chances of getting the Crawford fight, or better case to demand it. So this was all Ennis' idea.
