Alot of trainers that are recognized just have a great student. Ive watched this sport for 4 decades. You can take a great trainer and give him a average fighter and you get nothing but average out of him. What really makes a good trainer is the ability to IMPROVE a fighter. All coaches should understand fundamentals but its so much more than that. I see few great trainers now a days.
The best was Emmanuel Stewart & Cus d’Amato. Today id say Sugar Hill, Loma’s Dad & even though Im not fond of Tank. I think his trainer (Calvin Ford) is damn good. Tank has improved drastically over the last 5 years.Comment

OK Bam over Estrada you're MAYBE right about that. It's possibly a BIG fight. But I was thinking about proper big fights. Always seems to come up short. But to be fair to him he was fighting the absolute best of the era in Manny and Floyd and Usyk etc.
The win over Cruz isnt a big fight really.

Umm, your not watching his fighters fight. They adapt well and have solid skills. Little bad habits except for arrogant Fury. Who should of EASILY won that last fight.Comment

Off-topic, I still remember his fight against Chico Corrales. I think it was on the undercard of a Tyson fight. He was a pretty damn good fighter in addition to being a great trainer.Comment
