I see many are beginning to frame this as Turki being the "oppressor" that all the promoters suck up to while Canelo is the "rebel". They don't have to do business together, but people trying to make Canelo seem like he's standing up for Boxing.....give me a fxcking break.

Many figures in Boxing, kissing Turki's a$$ seems to be what is rubbing fans the wrong way. Turki could have easily respected Ginger's position to wait till after he fought Berlanga. Why didn't Turki respectfully agree to resume negotiations after Ginger's upcoming scrap? Instead, the man starts acting like a jaded teenage girl on social media. How do you respond to that? Also, I think it was in this forum that a poster claimed that the Saudis are attempting to Sports-wash past and present government suppression and abysmal human rights record through Boxing. Not sure if true or not but it is a bit concerning.
Ginger can care less about standing up for boxing. All he cares about before retiring, which will be pretty soon, is making as much dough as he can, fighting whom ever he wants to fight on his terms. Sucks for fans who want to see him fight Benavidez and other top fighters who might or will beat him. I mean, I'd like to say "screw that prick" but I might do the same if i were in his shoes.Last edited by LarryMerchant'sBottle; 08-09-2024, 01:08 PM.Comment

I don't believe PBC or anyone else can offer what it would take to make this fight happen. Shoot, Turki might not be willing to pay what it would take to satisfy both Ginger and Bud.Comment

I definitely do not think that Turki is an oppressor as he's actually offering boxers more than any other promoter and I haven't read a post that states that Ginger is standing up for Boxing.

I think Turki has learned from Eddie Hearn about the importance of building a public persona and maintaining an online presence, but I would prefer if he stayed behind the scenes and be more of a silent partner. Even Eddie has had to learn when to shut the hell up.

Fans are framing this like little red riding hood Canelo is standing up to the big bad wolf Turki, but in reality Canelo has had Boxing by the cajones for years. Canelo represents the status quo, and Turki is looking to use his wealth to disrupt the status quo. They're supposed to be rivals. Promoters should be kissing his ass because he's helping to fund their events. "Sports-washing" is the term you're looking for. Boxing is just one of many sports.
